I’ve at least never had negative interactions with DMV staff. Surely we can find rude staff everywhere, and sometimes it is simply a bad day, but I have on every occasion except for one had terrible experiences with USPS. And this is coming from someone who doesn’t ask for much in terms of customer service, like, at all.
I’ve only gone to the DMV once. It was a horrible experience- long wait, cramped… The website was also out of date so we didn’t bring one of the documents and had to go back, then go back in line…
HOWEVER, the employees there were awesome. THe lady who helped us almost made it bearable

My behavioural science friend (more or less my academic older brother) got into the Columbia Marketing PhD program (his top choics).
The Founder of econ research club now has to make the very difficult decision between Harvard and Stanford for his econ PhD.
Both of these ppl are amazing humans and 10000% deserve their placements

I’m more central VA - but I’m out in that area to go to the beach as often as I’m out in the other direction going to the mountains. VA’s just a wonderful state, dude. Moving my family here before I had my 2nd kid was the best choice I ever made.

Yeah. My brother and his kids love it too. My one niece is right in your neck of the woods, and she thoroughly enjoys the entire region.
I still havent made it down to visit them. It has been way too long, but the past couple years have been a bit nuts.

Not true. I find people who post vaguely depressing comments hoping for someone to take the bait to be a joke though.

Waking to to this email from my emerging markets professor
Context: I took emerging markets last semester. The professor commented that he wanted to turn his lecture notes into a book someday. I had some time so I wrote the “first chapter” and sent it to him.
This professor (who I’ve shouted out many times before) literally changed my academic life. He’s the reason I’ve seriously began to consider doing economic modeling work.
My friend (that one) got me interested but I never thought I could do it myself until I took his class.

I ripped my pants during my first set of squats yesterday. Never happened before. This could mean my legs (or arse) are growing. For some reason it makes me happy. I almost burst into laughter when it happened, but managed to continue repping.
I made it to the second round interview for a summer research program I applied to at HBS
I’ll get to talk to the professor who’s mentoring me!
This program is super competitive and 20% of the students end up getting admitted to HBS for grad school I’m so excited!!!
I’ll also get to meet a good friend from a discord server in real life
