Things That Make You Chuckle

Where do I make my mark to be a slave?

I also think they misspelled BOSS.

Crap. You just made me google to double check…bastid.

I love the cover on that book. A blue sky with pretty clouds.

As you read that book with Marx raging against the bourgeoisie and the owners of capital exploiting labor… just think about him having a maid that he refused to pay. Then he knocked her up and kicked her out destitute, refusing to acknowledge his own son.

That’s on my list of to reads

It’s not worth it. Das Kapital is much better

so you don’t recognize the subjective theory of value??

Let me clarify: For me, it’s not worth it

Serious question (I’m not testing you … really just curious) … did you read it? why do you prefer das kapital over it? I’ve only heard reviews of it from free market advocates so you can see that it’s a biased review.

I’ve read it, but it’s been a while.

Honest thoughts?

It’s been so long I honestly don’t recall much of it. I don’t recall having the impression that Marx was dumb, but I think he suffered from the same issue a lot of people today suffer from, which is worshiping an ideology even when it falls apart under scrutiny.

Ever have the desire to read anything on the other end of the economics spectrum from Mises - particularly Human Action? I think you’ve read some Sowell stuff, right?

I’ve read Return of Depression Economics by Krugman which was actually pretty good. I’d have to re-read it from the perspective and understanding I have now (I read it about 8 years ago or so). Free to Choose by Friedman is a great read and Road to Serfdom by Hayek

I have tried to read varying economic perspectives (Sowell, Schumpeter, Reich, etc…). I find it very dry and boring, butI still try to suffer through it from time to time, lol.

I’m also an accountant not an economist so I don’t fully grasp the concepts more often than not and I don’t usually feel like doing a deep dive into some curve or equation…

Way down at the bottom of my Amazon wishlist, lol:

Even further down, lol

I’m reading Ben Sasse’s The Vanishing American Adult for one of my college classes. He’s a Christian, and I know many of you are not, but I think he’s got a lot of good stuff to say. Mostly talking about what has led to kids being such dumbasses today. Got it used off Amazon for like $5 or so. Only half way through but would recommend!

I mean it guys, we’re trying our best up here. Supplise of women are low in certain rural locations.

I’m curious about this book but there are other books much much higher on the list … I doubt I’ll ever get to reading this one. While you’re at it, I’d recommend Jonathan Haidt’s ā€œThe Coddling of the American Mindā€, along with ā€œThinking, Fast and Slowā€ by Daniel Kahenman
