Just showed my wife that. She’s still laughing.
I work at the local Y. We have some computer program where we can run members through a strength test (find their 10-15 RM on a few machines and test how many crunches they can do in a minute) and then we can plug that in, give a few details like how many days per week they want to train, for how long, what their goals are, and it will print them out workouts when they come in to workout.
In some ways, I think it works well. Most of the senior citizens use it, and for them I think it serves it’s purpose - at 70+ years old, they probably are past the point of squatting or doing anything that requires much learning, so sitting in the machines and just getting in some activity for the sake of it helps them out.
But holy crap, the amount of young dudes who come in and say, “I want to focus on my chest, arms, and abs” is crazy. Like when I first started, I wanted abs, I wanted big arms, I wanted to bench more than my peers. But I never felt like I had zero interest in working my legs and back - I figured I should do it all. I even had a guy today straight up say “I don’t want to work my legs at all.” I said “You sure?” He said “Yes, no leg work.” And keep in mind the only leg work this program will spit out would be leg extensions and leg curls. Hardly exhausting for the average guy who’s not using certain techniques to tire him out.
With that one guy, one of the machines we have to test them on is a leg press, but not like a “real” leg press. I don’t know how exactly it works but it’s easier than a leg press basically. He’s (angrily) like “I feel my legs!” I said “Yeah…gotta test it out.” “But I feel my legs! I don’t want to work them!” I explained I’ll make sure his workouts are upper body only, but I have to run the whole 5 minute test. He was annoyed.
I don’t know…I just don’t get it. I really don’t care - it’s up to them. But why would you have such a problem with it? Big quads and big lats are pretty frickin’ cool in my opinion…have big pecs and biceps too, but why not it all?
EDIT: This was a rant but these guys do make me chuckle when they give their demands.
Niiiiiice

There is a gentleman in the gym today (~20), works out 4-5 days a week, literally just benches, does curls, and a few tricep movements, literally every day, minimal effort, no real intensity, but he’ll ‘train’ others, of course
well at this point in time there are two high end D-II level female athletes down here actually working out, I am chuckling at, and thoroughly enjoying, the look of mild fear and shock on his face as they throw real weight around, sweat, grunt, and just generally kick ass and make him uncomfortable while he shrugs 45lb dumbbells ![]()
So my brother in law’s brother works for Hasbro … I’m hoping he can snag me a free copy of this … I sooo want to play this and laugh and laugh until my crippling hunger kicks in and I can no longer laugh because … you know, hunger pangs suck
Sounds like you might be the type to be offended by this game…
Man I love tractor/truck pulls. This guy grenades his 572ci, roots-blown, alcohol-burning rig. Only to be towed away like this.

Hookstown fair?
Haha. Nice. I guess they do that just to rub it in a little.
I’m trying to watch the Avengers movies. I cue up the first one. Youngest son walks in, watches mindlessly until Loki walks in and he excitedly says “It’s Billy Goat Gruff!”.
Had to turn it off as he kept doing it and it kept cracking me up.
Now I don’t know if I can watch any of it.
My hope in humanity just grew a little bit.
This guy looks and sounds like every neighborhood bar drunk I’ve ever met. So funny.

Hahaha, oh man. I’d love to do that, but would not want to be the guy that did.
