Things That Make You Chuckle

It is now clear that Jeffrey Toobin is the only person at CNN that can keep his hands to himself.

We were watching that segment and had to rewind it a couple of times to peel apart the layers of irony.

Well, he literally organized a JRE special episode with the covid grifters (Kory, Weinstein…) and advertised fake covid treatment to 11 million of his listeners. He also doesn’t have the balls to come out as full anti vax so most of his twitter feed is innuendo against vaccination.

He’s responsible for a non-negligible number of deaths. I’m against banning him, but I’m free to say that’s he a dumb, evil midget who indirectly killed people.

Leftists who blame one person for another person’s actions make me chuckle.

What are your thoughts on the Sacklers (owners of Purdue Pharma)? Should they own any blame for the deaths of the people using their products?

I don’t have any thoughts on it as I don’t know anything about the Sacklers.

I have known a lot of drug addicts over the years, and they either own their actions and move on with life, or not. Unfortunately none of these situations were or are chuckle-worthy.

They downplayed the risks of dependence of the drugs they sold, while incentivizing their sales team to push doctors to Rx their drugs. Many people who had no interest in getting high on drugs and didn’t know the risks of the drugs (partly because they were obfuscated at the direction of the Sacklers) ended up addicts and many of them died.

Not all of it. THe opioid crisis would not exist without growing mental health crisis, smuggling of fentanyl and despair from worsening socioeconomic situations

Definitely. but because they knowingly supressed research AND pushed sales to the point of being unethical/borderline illegal
This includes bribing doctors, encouraging pill pushing, altering medical education

Yeah, they aren’t solely to blame, but they deserve some blame. I think it is justified to blame them for part of the issue, even though people choose to use their drugs.

I hear you. I started smoking cigarettes when I was 13 on the advice of my close friend Dale. I think 9 out of 10 doctors recommended Chesterfield Kings at the time.

I still had to own it.

For your long term health, yes.

As far as being justified at being upset at someone, I think it would be reasonable to be upset at those 9/10 doctors (especially if it was shown they knew it was actually terrible for you). I know you are not that old though.

I would trust Fred Flinstone though and go with Winstons. He seems like he would know which brand had robust smooth tobacco.

Here’s a video for a seamless transition back on topic from my rant above.

Getting this important thread back on-track…

Sometimes it is okay to laugh and even marvel at people who have likely drug problems. I’ve never seen anyone do this before.

I have a wicked gag reflex, and that video definitely triggered it.

That is funny for any number of reasons, the main one being that if you remember when he started out he was anything but intimidating in any way, shape or form.

But yeah, after 30 years of hard work and tattoos, he does look like he might scare children. Small children, but scared none the less.
