Things That Make You Chuckle

I don’t get this either. Women are more than welcome to do this as well, I don’t see the issue. Hell I’d prefer is they sat like this :joy:

@punnyguy
Have you ever found yourself doing squeeze presses, and thought, what would Joel Seedman suggest to make this better? And, is there a way to make a safe exercise like that 20x more dangerous? You’re in luck.

Yes, that’s a 25# bumper plate positioned such that were anything to happen, it would fall and land on his sternum or his chin/face long before anyone without superhuman reflexes could catch it.
Lift away, bros.

Holy shite, that is stupid.

Not that I’m a guy who’s ever dropped a barbell on his chest while using a false grip…

@flappinit

That’s the part us ordinary peoples are missing when graced with His advice.

Even I’m not stupid enough to try that :joy::joy::joy::sweat_smile:

I’m really struggling to see the benefit of that plate.

The intent behind it is to ensure that you’re squeezing, because you can technically perform a ‘squeeze’ press without doing the heavy squeezing that brings the pecs into it. So, yes, you’ll have to be squeezing to do this, but a better way to do it would be to, say, teach your clients to fucking squeeze the dumbbells. Hell, if you were blessed with some equipment - like having your own training center to teach people to do dumb shit - you could pop them in a rack and anchor bands off of either sides of the rack that you had to pull inwards.
But actually putting it out there for the general population that you can improve squeeze presses by putting yourself in a dangerous situation is really dumb, even for that guy.

Sets to failure would certainly be something.

A friend of mine used to have seizures, sometimes while lifting. Not like big grand mals, he would just go blank, shut down.

So that happened once with dumbell bench, and Bonk! before I could do a damn thing that hex head was bouncing off of his gourd.

I think all exercises should have an element of do it wrong and you’re gonna get your ass maimed about them

Hahah, IF the intent was “if you don’t do this right then death will come swiftly for you” I could totally respect that. But the intent is, as with all things Joel Seedman, to let you know that he’s got the secrets that no one else has.

To think a few sessions with Joel would have made that ordeal into a light workout!

In the US, we do that to dogs after chopping their nuts off.

That’ll teach 'em to not hump legs!

does Joel Seedman train dogs?
if not, when do you think the next ebook will come out?

Oldie, but the bestie. Those leg extension and leg curl sets at the end are probably the reason why the legends in the sport can never be touched - nobody has the confidence to pull off one of those leg curl/extension sets at the end. The man with maybe the freakiest legs of all time trained them with high volume AND high intensity. Something to be said for that.

Quad cramps are really a new level of evil haha

I only really commented to say that I recently incorporated what has become known as Platz Squats into my training and they both humbled the fuck out of me and also almost killed me at the same time haha

Highly recommended squat variation.

I had a period in my log where I split quad and hams into their own days, and one of my quad days began with 10 sets of leg extensions, ascending in weight every set, with the first set at 30 reps, then 27, then 25, 20, 20, 15,15, 12, 12, 10. Next exercise was close-stance leg press for 6x15, then BB lunges, also ascending in weight, for 2x25m, 2x20m, and 2x15m, and then BACK to the leg extension for 4x12 straight sets.
No matter how you do it, a true quad-focused split day is unparalleled in terms of pure physical pain. I know plenty of people do it, but it’s amazing how few people I’ve met who split up legs that way. Quads and hams are so huge, it’s funny how we don’t bat an eye about splitting up chest and back but splitting up legs sounds like overthinking to some people.
