These Next 40 Days

For those of you who are religious or are Christian, what are you giving up for Lent, if anything? I myself am not because I don’t believe that it’s necessary. Although some may argue that it’s a way to be closer to Christ and experience what went through in the desert, I think it’s unnecessary.

Tell us what you’re giving up!

CS

I’m christian technically, but giving up nothing because I have my doubts.

I do it every year. This year I’m not “Giving up” anything per se, but rather, I’m going to be more positive and I’m going to be less judgmental!

I kinda think that Lent is worthless. If you’re going to give up a bad habit or try and act like a better person, then why not do that the other 325/326 days a year?

Hookers and blow.

That is something that sadly non practicing Christians will never understand. It much more than just the practice of giving up something for the 40 days.

I am a practicing Catholic and I participate in Lent every year.

Heck it can even be used for weight loss productivity like giving up cliche things such as soda and sweets

It isn’t for giving up a bad habit, it is for giving up a habit you like to try recreate the misery of Jesus in the desert, denying yourself what you think you need, or some shit. Nonetheless, definitely what Christianity is supposed to be about.

I’m not religious so don’t really have anything to add to this thread but I just wanted to say - you have an awesome smile! That was all.

You have an awesome mask.

Do it for the spirit of it and and not the perceived duty.

True Christians are not obligated to such rituals.

Agreed. Although, at church last night, i was asked in a small group what i was giving up, and I didn’t know what to say, so i just blurted out…pizza. Its gonna be tough.

Energy Drinks. Both for my health, my budget, and the mental task of it all. I’m not Catholic and thus am not required to do lent but I like the mental challenge of it and knowing that worldly things do not control me.

I usually give up booze each year, except for St. Patrickâ??s Day â?? that would just be inhuman.

I generally fail during March Madness, but have a buddy that claims to have lost 8 lbs. last year by doing the same thing.

Donâ??t think that giving up anything for lent is a requirement. You are supposed to be a better person. Still, it is good to have a challenge. Challenge Accepted :expressionless:
