The Walking Dead Season 2 Pt. 2

RE: Katana wielding woman

Michone was supposed to be an avid fencer growing up and through school. The sword was taken from a neighbor’s after the walkers showed up. The truth is if you are going to find a useable carbon steel sword (as opposed to a brittle sword shaped object) in a U.S. suburb it is probably going to be in a katana/japanese pattern. Precisely because of the cliche that some of you have mentioned.
I blame The Highlander for this.

fucking Katana for sale, even at a Highland Games blacksmith booth…

I own 5. And one I picked up from Budk web site had a Klingon Pez Dispenser.

lol I have one too, it’s a shirasaya style (the kind with no guard, with a natural-color wooden sheath, like Zatoichi would carry.

But I have a mess of other swords too, not just the katana…great Russo-Japanese war era saber, about 4 18th and 19th century long bayonets that served as short swords, a few goodies from the cold steel collection, and two hand made pieces, one great quality…the other…not so much.

Frankly the one I would carry into the zombie apocalypse is an old Bulgarian style sword…a nice ghurka kukri as backup.

I just kind of get dismayed when katanas appear everywhere, in everything, as if it’s the one and only definition of coolness in bladed weapons.

Even the Japanese show more variety than the weeaboos.

AWESOME. I’m really trying to move into sword collecting I have been collecting knives for …he’ll 20 years not the high end Steve reeves stuff but still a fan of the steel.

Just carry a fencing sword, and jab them through there eye, get the brain, unless the brain has to be completely destroyed then what ever sword is best for chopping would be best.

Cliff notes: the show sucks but we watch it because it should be good

That is basically it for me. I’ll watch next season and probably the season after that if they’re lucky enough to go that far. I’ll probably watch until they have a Fonzi zombie riding a motorcycle down the back of a brontosaurus. But I’m not going to actually like it until it STOPS FUCKING SUCKING.
Hahahahahahahah yeah I understand. But I won’t say it sucks. I enjoy it, I just know how much better it could really be.
Thank you for posting this.

I think I agree. The show has some good / great moments but manages to piss them away more often than not.

Michone 2012,

If it was made from spring/tool/carbon steel that might have been a find.

My issue is the stainless blades that are way too brittle to be used as swords. Those are legit dangerous.

Quit Fronting.

You were not influenced by this:

BUT BY THIS!

Disclosure statement. I saw Blind Fury when it was released and liked it.

If reproductions/wall hangers that can be used are what you are after. Here are a few links.

Paul Chen/Hanwei is pretty decent for the money (especially on the lower end of their line) and compares well with Cold Steel, etc.

Review here:
http://www.sword-manufacturers-guide.com/hanwei-swords.html
Link also has reviews or other makers.

ITS TAPE!
Obligatory video / unintentional comedy about the dorkiness of sword collecting

Disclosure: I am not making fun of sword collecting. I ended up owning the weapons of every ninja turtle. Not for that reason, but the fact it happened organically is still pretty awful.

CC this very well sums this up.

I watch very, very few TV shows this show, Archer, the soup and Tosh.

Everything else pretty much sucks donkey balls.

Spartacus is far and away the best show on TV. If you don’t have Starz then that is unfortunate, and you are right, TV sucks right now.

I enjoy Spartacus but it just does not grap my attention to stay with it. I end up letting weeks go by and just watching them later on demand.

I have Directv and have everything they offer.

I have tried to watch that on Netflix, I do not have the time to dedicate to catch up. Plus while I am not a prude I have teenage kids in the house and very little privacy. Not cool to watch T&A in front of them.

The current spartacus season hasn’t really caught my interest tbh… I liked Rome better… The first Spartacus and that prequel thing were alright…

They should make a mass effect series, using the game engine or something… Under the ME1 lead writer… Course they’d mess it up, but one can dream.
Your kids would just run away every time a sex scene came up because of the scary blue tentacle lady hahaha.

Mass Effect would make an awesome TV series

ROME was freaking awesome, hell I’m going to break out the DVD’s before I have to hit the road again next week
