The message of “Fuck you people. If you want me to labor to protect you, than I am in charge” is a good one.
The issue is if you give me the “Democracy is over speech” while pointing your gun at my head and waving around and muzzle sweeping the group that includes your wife and child I am going to take it at face value.
If you are waving a gun around as a means of expressing yourself, I take it as evidence that you are willing to point the weapon and destroy everything around you.

Rick’s little speech at the end was bullshit, he killed Shane for himself. As far as i could tell the only other members of the group left who had a beef with Shane was Herschel and possibly Daryl.
