I’m waiting for the Breaking Bad offer…

They dont need you though TWD does.

I don’t want to be needed. I want to sit in the back and listen. hahahahahaha

I’'m betting TWD writing room is a Battle Royal.

Writer 1- I say in this scene we…

(Writer 2,3&4 jumps in) Hey I think we should try something we did on our last show “All My Children” in this scene Susan Luci…I mean Lori…

And then as always you hear a Large thump outside of the door as the Studio bouncer drags Robert Kirkman away while still holding his shotgun screaming “they are killing my ideas”)

I am just waiting for the walking dead “book” version to get in ebook format. I just cant get into comics any more.

Yeah you can’t start late. I had a 7 year layoff and did not touch a comic but went back. I’m lazy though I wait till its all one big graffic novel. I hate this wait a month crap.

Predictions on who ‘bites’ it next (didja see what I did there?)

My vote’s for Herschel’s younger daughter, the girl who slit her wrist and T-Dog

What do y’all think?
ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT THIS…Okay brother here we go…

Bites it- Herschels Son that has less lines than T-dog. Herschels Daughter that tried to kill herself (but she fights it to the end).

T-dog gets it. The Zombies find him asleep in the back of the house alone because everyone forgot he was still around. Before he dies he starts quoting the first 2 books of the Bible from memory just to make up for the lack of lines he had in 2 seasons of being a regular cast memeber.

Herschel- He has a chance to leave but kisses his last family member alive and tells her to leave. He has everyone leave him with as much ammo as they can spare. He moves to the front of the house as everyone gears up to leave.

He looks back says goodbye.
Turns to the zombies Rips off his shirt cuts the cross in his chest Pulls out the biggest bottle of Jack Daniels you have ever seen and starts dropping shells like the forest clearing in Predator.
End.

Oh. About 10 miles down the road Lori falls out of the car but no one cares.
Derek has it right, you’d do the show a better service than the god-damn manatees they have writing for the show now lol

I just finished reading all the issues pretty much back to back up to the latest one like a week ago … There’s a slight lull in the middle between the end of the prison arch to the middle of the Arlington arch, but it picks up and I like where it’s headed now…

Still no bionic redneck though (sad face)

Been on a kick of reading an author named Brent Weeks, scifi stuff fun series.

Honestly have not found a lot of really good zombie books, I mean engaging well written books.

I’ve been reading White Flag of the Dead series by Joseph Talluto … they aren’t bad. The guy’s a decent writer.

He gets pretty descriptive about the weapons they choose, the logic behind a lot of what’s going on the decisions they make. There’s some pretty good antagonistic story lines in the books aside from the usually zombie stuff.

Shit looked him up, he has book 2 and 3 in ebook but not book 1, WTF

You say T-Dog’s a goner?!?!?

(BTW, that gif’s not a spoiler at all. Ha. It’s from last season on the highway.)

I think Herschel can’t or won’t survive long outside his farm, so he’s on the way out even though he’d be invaluable to the group, skill-wise.

And I expect either Glenn or Maggie to get killed. There can be no happy couples after the end of the world.
polo77j wrote:
There’s hardly any comic relief on the show and it can make it difficult for viewers to really connect with the characters…
I kinda agree. I can think of at least three buddies of mine who, when the zombie apocalypse begins, will 100% deal with the stress by being their normal hysterically-funny selves.

Also, to the dude who said a few pages back that Michael Rooker spoke at his school and told them that Merle would be back, like I said before, I think that would be very improbable and would be a huge stretch to explain both how he survived getting out of the city and how he managed to bump into the group again.

No Spoilers but it does look better than the last 4 movies I’ve seen.

“MY Name is Herschel, Come and Get some”

Several people here are saying something I’ve felt, and heard many, many other folks also say (and almost nobody disagreeing) –

When it comes down to it, I really don’t -like- any of the characters.

It’s not a lack of humor, as I’ve liked continuously stressed characters in other apocalyptic shows…and it’s not the matter of there being no real ‘hero,’ since there have been plenty of ‘everyman’ characters that I could relate to.

I just feel disconnected from everyone on the show. When one of them dies, it’s like watching the random pedestrians getting eaten in every other zombie film – it’s mildly amusing, but I don’t feel cheered by Shane’s death or dismayed by the death of Dale or another supposedly ‘sympathetic’ character. I sort of like Daryl…but not that much.

It seems that I liked all of these characters a lot more in the 1st season. Maybe my memory is inaccurate…and I enjoy things well enough to keep watching this season and probably next season, but something has changed.

Anyone else get this impression? Any speculations on what might be going on?

Well you are not ever with one person long enough form a real bond of any kind. But to be honest I do have some feelings for a couple characters. Daryl being one, Herschel the other.

Herschel an old fart who thought he had it all figured out in life. Wife, kids farm. Then all hell breaks loose so he tries to hold onto some faith that he can bring them back, NOPE. So now he tries to hold onto whats left…(looking at the preview) NOPE. So yes I feel for that old fart.

Writing could be better. But As far as Zombie Shows, Movies go I have never really felt more for any characters than I do this group. I guess that says something.

THAT guy I like.

He makes sense to me.

Well I do have to agree with you completely regarding Herschel, I forgot about him when I wrote what I wrote, above. Plus yeah with Daryl too, perhaps in no small part because he had about 15 minutes of on-screen character development this season.

But again, to me it’s something wrong with this season.

You see, I did generally like (or at least could relate to) many of the same characters in the first season.

Also, side note, there have been plenty of characters in both ensemble cast works, and zombie/apocalyptic films, whom I’ve liked. Hell, all of the Romero films except Survival of the Dead had characters I could do one degree or another understand/relate to, and all of those films featured no real heroes, with varied characters all tossed into a similar environment – each with only a modicum of character development.

Back to Season 2 of the Walking Dead, especially season 2.5 – the analogy that hits me as I’m writing, is that watching the characters in season 2 (esp. 2.5) is like hanging out with someone who is quitting a serious smoking habit. Yeah, you know they’re OK people, and you can understand that they’re going through some stressful shit, but damn sometimes you just want to walk the fuck away and let them do whatever it is they are planning on doing, until they get over the acute withdrawal period.

And also don’t get me wrong, I still really enjoy this show, to the point where it’s one of the only shows that I really try to see when it is actually broadcast, not just wait to check it out on the DVR recordings.

It’s just that something isn’t working for me regarding season 2…something’s missing. The show makes up for this missing element, at least enough so to keep me generally interested, but while individual actions of the characters, or scenarios, are memorable, the character interplay is lacking the 1st season spark.

Tertiary side note – I feel a bit sad that T-Dog doesn’t even have his own Wikipedia entry :frowning: He’s been with the group from the start and nobody can even find anything to write about him.

Well… on the other hand, he takes the “token black guy” thing to the hilt. He literally does little else than being black.

On the other hand, most others that could be a dangerous competitor are killed off so soon, they hardly get the chance to not shine.

Then again, Ving Rhames.

I have enjoyed almost every Zombie movie ever made…almost.

The original Dawn of the Dead with the Actor that later played Candy man as the Hero was as close as I ever came to giving a damn about them as regular people. It was always like a sports game to me US VS ZOMBIES. Not sure why.

As for T-Dog…well they have not given him enough to say in 2 seasons to even get paid. I mean is he an actor or is he just a lighting guy that keeps getting in frame when they film?

Also Am I the only one that noticed Hershels son working on the house last episode. I had almost forgot he was on the show.

True, I was seriously trying to figure out who that guy was.

I know I keep expecting that guy to get accidentally head-shot because he just shambles around without talking. If he ever makes a loud yawn or anything, he’s toast.

Back on the T-Dog matter…but he isn’t token black guy TOO much, in that he hasn’t died in a humorous or humiliating fashion…yet…

Though if he ever says anything like, “I can’t believe I’ve survived this long, it feels great to be alive,” you might as well set your stopwatches to his two minute survival countdown.
