I’m convinced that the writers want us to hate the grimes family. Ricks is indecisive (plus when he makes a decision it is usually shitty), and a nice but selfish guy (at least in the since that the character never does anything he will have feel bad about such as doing something about his son stealing and insulting a grieving mother), while at the same time taking advantage of the people he associates with(volunteering Glenn for dangerous jobs, giving Daryl’s gun away, repay Herschel for saving his sons life by immediately plotting on how further to take advantage of him). Lori is manipulative(her little talk with Shane seemed to be intended to bring the conflict between Shane and Rick to a head) and shows poor judgement(do i even need to mention Loris wreck a couple eps. ago). And Carl is a thief, seems to be hell bent on causing problems for the group, and in general is a liability.

I hate pretty much every character on the show. I have no idea why I’m still watching it. Maybe it’s because I hope it will get better?

I generally agree with this, but I think we can expand it further by saying wouldn’t all kids in the zombie apocalypse be a liability?
It’s tough to really be so critical of them as it is, though. The only people we’ve really seen pre-apocalypse was Rick and Shane, and only briefly and they were still in a tense situation when we did.
What this show might need is a “fun” episode without so much god-damn soap opera drama. Maybe some zombie skull splitting action, but nothing too severe or life threatening. Kind of like they used to do on Lost, specifically the episode where Hurley finds the van and they go joy riding. There’s hardly any comic relief on the show and it can make it difficult for viewers to really connect with the characters…

ahh, I assumed Dale got a mery killing and then the group waited for him to gurn before they finihed him. But, youre right, a zombie can do anything without a head.
I swear I remember seeing zombies with wounds in their heads though which lead me to believe head wounds wont stop a body from waking up.[/quote]
It is feasible for a zombie to experience head trauma and still be animated as long as the brain is still functioning the way a zombie’s brain does. What puts a zombie down permanently is severe brain trauma.

And then, it would be kind of hard to spot the zombie that is “special” when a whole horde is coming after you.
Maybe some are more stupid than others?
How could one tell?
What would be the point in doing it?
No career in zombie psychology.

Out side of the farmers daughter I wouldn’t want to hang with any of these people.
We are so use to have movies like this where someone takes over and is already the LEADER BY BIRTH and we have the ACTION GUY and FACE MAN and HOWLING MAD MURDOCK. That we don’t take time to think. If shit like this really went down you would have to deal with people thrown together that are not Leaders who are trying to lead because no one else can or want to. You will have more Alpha types than is needed etc etc.
The show is showing us Rick a family man and a Cop (that is all we really know about Rick). His job was to follow the Law and make sure others uphold the law. Now we have a world where the Law is all but dead…eff that IS DEAD. And he is trying to help a group of unskilled fucks survive Oh and deal with a fucked up wife a Crazy best friend who fucked said wife and a kid who went from questions like “does jennifer like me”? to “ARE WE GOING TO DIE TODAY”. HE is still a kid (a magical kid that can vanish in a heart beat).
The point is Rick is not Braveheart He is just an average guy who is trying to help. Remember these fucks can go off on there own anytime they feel like it. He is not making them stay. They stay because they WANT someone to make the decisions for them.
He will fuck up, he will make some bad choices, people will die. And if this went down in the real world this is what would happen…except to me because I would be on a large piece of land with more guns than the U.S.Army 5 dogs and a tar pit ready for any Zombies that want to come to my BBQ.

Let us say a zombie was zombified by a fall on the head or some such.
Not enough to completely destroy his brain, like a bullet in the head would, but with a somewhat damaged brain.
This might become an especially slow zombie, but who could tell the difference?
There is a series where some people cross over with their mental faculties completely intact because they made sure that their brain was very cold when they died, they avoided the brain damage.
<---- has read up on his zombology.

Gotcha.
What series is that? So these people are zombies with all the mental faculties intact from their “former life”? Are they compelled still to behave as zombies but can problem solve at a high level (I’ve read some zombie fiction where zombies “evolve” and start “hunting” in packs and create ambushes and can open doors, etc… I don’t consider this to be a high level of problem solving.)
Sounds interesting.
Amazing x5.
hahahahahahahah This was worth every minute I wasted yelling at the TV.
Kill a Cast Member every episode. All shows should end every season like this.
When I look back I wish this trend would have started with the last 3 episodes of:
Giligans Island
Happy Days
Three’s a Company
and The Flintstones.

Who would you kill on The Flintstone’s? Maybe bam-bam, but he wasn’t on screen enough to ruin the show.(TAKE NOTE WRITERS AND APPLY TO CARL! Sub Carl’s parts with more than a line/gun bearer role for T-dawg. Seriously, it isn’t 1930’s Africa and he can do more than hand the great white dipshit a gun.) Now Scrappy Do on the other hand was a big can of wtf.
The writers are in an interesting spot where they can stray from the source material and kill of characters because everyone HATES damn near all of them. Daryl is the only one people seem to not want dead.

I agree with most of what you just wrote … they should introduce Abraham (only cuz I love Danny Trejo) and Michonne and kill off mostly everyone else … maybe keep Andrea around and have her develop into her comic character b/c she was so affected by Dale’s death…

I would put Breaking Bad up as the 3rd best TV show I have ever followed, behind only The Wire and Deadwood(in that order). The Shield might be 4, but I would have to think on it.
FireFly was the most enjoyable, but I found it after cancellation so it does not feel like a series. Ditto Farscape.
So, thinking of characters; IS THERE a well developed/evolving character on this show? I still like it, is that just because I am a sucker for zombies? To me it seems like the characters have are different “interpretations” week to week with very little actual shift/growth to explain the changes.
