The Video Game Thread

Just started Outer Worlds, it’s pretty fun. Very much like Fallout.

Made by Obsidian, who made Fallout New Vegas. Should be roughly 100x better than 76. Let me know how you like it and if it’s as open to different runs/endings as NV was.

Bathesda just launched a $100/year subscription to a game that is universally panned, and buggy. They called it Fallout 1st. Some salty redditor bought the domain before Bathesda could.

Let me know how much playtime you get out of it, I’m excited but hesitant based on what I’ve heard about the length.

Also, iced of The Surge 2. Its pretty good in it’s own right, doubly so if you liked the first one. However, I absolutely recommend anyone that like the idea of industrial scifi souls to grab the first game. It really is an underappreciated treasure.

Anybody still playing GTA online?

The Outer Worlds is indeed quite good. But the problem is I don’t like any of my companions!
Good thing you can kick them off the ship.

I am about 96% certain that, after I beat Emerald Weapon in Final Fantasy 7, I’m going to make a character in Fallout 2 called “Bobby Hill” whose only method of combat is kicking the enemy in the groin

I want to get it, but need an external hard drive first. No more room. I’m so ready for the mods. It’s going to be completely ludicrous.

Side note, I know I’m about 4 years late, but I started playing Ark Survival Evolved a few weeks ago and am loving every minute of it. I started a twitch channel and it’s been a fun ride to say the least.

Anyone had a go at RDR2? How is it?

It’s fun. I didn’t get into it like the first one, but it’s just as good I’d say.

For some dumb reason I let my buddies convince me to get the new COD.

And? I thought the general critical at least stuff I’d read was pretty positive and that this was one of the better ones in the series?

I’ll be honest it’s been a while since I’ve played any competitive shooter multiplayers. Used to play the shit out of battlefield and gears of war type games when I was in college. I prefer single player experiences now for the most part.

Also what the hell is your new picture from? Is that a ripped caveman joker?

This is the first CoD I’ve played since Black Ops 2 and it’s alright. Very campy even for CoD. The hits register pretty good. Maps are alright. I haven’t touched the campaign, yet. I did hear it was good.

The avatar is a joker strongman I drew a month or so ago.

I’ve just started Red Dead 2 and sunk around 5 hours in, its really complex and could really do with a better tutorial system.

I like it, but don’t love it yet. Seems a lot ‘clunkier’ than the Witcher 3 did (the last game i played before).

Just picked up Battlefront II the celebration addition or something (supposed to have all dlc and characters).

Playing some Counterstrike: Global Offensive now.

The weird thing is, the first time I played Counterstrike was on a Windows '98 computer, in 1999, for the BETA of the original CS. 20 fucking years ago. I was pretty good. I’m not terrible for just jumping back into a PC FPS for the first time in years and years, but it’s comical to hear little kids on their mics talking trash to people, like ‘have you ever played before?’ Yes, long before you were born.

Also, we used to find league matches for CS on mIRC, where you could also download tons of free movies and the like, and the channels were created with hashtags. If nobody had started a channel and you typed #dskaflsadjfkldasjkfl into the window, it would create that channel. When we would thrash somebody in a match you’d quite often be like #ggyouretrashbro or #suckadick, referring jokingly to an mIRC channel. So it’s been very amusing watching the advent of hashtags, knowing that we were hashtagging shit as little nerdlets in the late 90s and early 2000s.

Playing Resident Evil 2 Remake, wanna replay it before RE3 comes out.

I just finished Doom 2016. That was a beauty of a game remake. Now to work my way through my gaming backlog while resisting the siren’s call of Steam Winter Sale.

I’m hooked on Disco Elysium. I admit I’m biased towards post-Soviet visuals but the story is amazing.

Would recommend even for those that don’t like RPGs.
