The Ultimate Villain

who would you say is the most badass villain out of every TV show or movie, I’m no star wars geek but I would say Darth Vader.

I’ll need time to think about it

respectable there are definitely quite a few that are worthy of the title

Are we talking about the evil masterminds, or the henchman and second in commands? I would say someone like Boba Fett is more badass than Darth Vader. Boba Fett was his own man livin the life, but Darth Vader was just the emperors bitch. Think about it… the emperor wanted Luke to kill Vader so Luke could replace him; Vader was really just a pawn to the emperor. Boba fett was free. For similar reasons I think Han was a greater hero than Luke.

I probably wouldn’t cast my vote for Boba Fett though, but I lean more towards the rogue types than the haunted, pure evil types.

Depends on what you mean by “best” villain. If we’re talking about most evil or sadistic then you probably look at the Horror genre. But then the conversation turns into an exercise in futility, as there is a villain in every horror film.

If best means under a multitude of criteria like infamy, pop culture impact, influence in the film’s universe, depth of character, and etc, then Darth Vader is definitely up there, along with the Joker (in TDK).

I would say the minimum requirement is they stay evil even at the very end, Vader is a horrible choice for this reason. Darth Sidious would be a better choice but I think starwars is too cliche for this topic and there has to be something better…

The original terminator was a good one for 2 reasons. First the fact it was a machine so there was no way it would change its mind to kill its target like other villians could potentially do, plus the ones who programmed it were in the future and unable to alter its mission once it started. And the ending where he was missing his lower body and was crawling to the catch the targets.

Then maybe the emperor himself

Either Michael Corleone or Heath Ledger’s Joker.

I take that back. If we’re going to include any and all fictional villains, here’s the list.

  1. Michael Corleone
  2. Darth Vader
  3. Dracula
  4. The Joker (just the Joker in general)
  5. Big Brother from 1984

Honorable mentions:

Nurse Ratched, Mr. Hyde, Patrick Bateman, Hannibal Lecter, Alex DeLarge (A Clockwork Orange), HAL9000, Keyser Soze, Max Cady, Scarface, The Wicked Witch, Norman Bates, Gordon Gekko, Anton Sigur, Daniel Plainview

DB Cooper vs Small dog.

Leatherface - I hate that guy. You just don’t kill women that way, motherfucker!

Anton Chigurn - No Country for Old Men – That guy was so creepily cold and emotionless that I almost fell in love with him.

Lil Ze - City of God – He had a certain swag. He was so despicable.

Hannibal Lecter - He liked his meat raw, fresh and Homo sapien.

That guy from S7ven , yeah, John Doe-- He was just fucking sickly delectable. Shame that he gets shot at the end. Over an XBOX ONE. A fucking XBOX ONE.

That guy who drove the truck or the TRUCK itself – Duel – I almost felt sorry for that fucker in his car.

Frank – Once upon a time in the West – You don’t kill children like that, motherfucker!!

That fucking evil child in the Omen.

That girl in the Auditiion – now, that’s a cold motherfucking bitch. And they say I have no heart…

Now for my ultimate villain… that talking machine, with the red eye - 2001: A Space Odyssey-

I’m sure given more thought I could come up with someone almost indisputable, but I adore The Coen Brothers’ version of Anton Chigurh. (Of course McCarthy set the tone, but I guess if we’re going strictly on-screen…)

I would also slot in Dennis Hopper’s Frank Booth from Blue Velvet, his hatred and disgust at everything around him mesmerises me. He continues to scare the shit out of me, every time I see Blue Velvet.

I would throw in Norman Stansfield from Leon: The Professional, but I don’t feel he’s quite at a level to be considered the best. I also considered Agent Smith from The Matrix, but his villainous acts do not resonate from his own free will, so I thought there could be far better choices.

I would also agree with Heath Ledger’s Joker, a masterful performance of pure evil manifested into a kind of comical “child-like” form.

Honourable mention to Spacey’s John Doe from Se7en, there are so many great choices for incredible villains, but so very hard for me to make my mind up on an absolute.

Perfect organism indeed.

George Stark in the “the dark half” was good both in the book and movie. Kevin cosner as evil Elvis in 3000 miles to graceland.
