Don’t get me wrong I don’t think he was tapping to indicate giving up but he did physically tap and while watching live (at 5am in the UK) I was very confused about it.

I noticed Jiri making those kind of tapping motions a couple of times, but the camera angle didn’t show that one clearly. That looks like a tap, but the fact that he did similar things throughout the fight suggests it’s not really a ‘concede’ tap.
Jiri is weird and his trainers really need to tell him that could have ended the fight in a bad way for him.
I sorta feel bad for Glover. He had the fight won but a mistake gave Jiri the opportunity to choke him out.
Amazing fight though, and great card.
Yup, he was kind of talking to Glover and atta-boying him, but someone on his team better tell him to never do that again haha
Maybe it was an homage to Randy Couture V Tito Ortiz when Randy patted him on the ass.
Big weekend for combat sports fans!

UFC Fight Night: Austin Saturday night
Card this weekend looks like it will either be one the best cards or one of the dullest in recent history.
I have a feeling the main event will either end early or be a 5 round snoozer with Izzy playing risk management and Cannonier either going after him and getting countered early or Cannonier being smart and the fight being a slow, boring, technical points fight,
Co-Main for me is “Blah”. If Holloway win’s we are guaranteed a 4th fight and ultimately in my opinion we may be looking at a 5th fight next year if Holloway wins this and the 4th
Thoughts?
We’ve had some surprisingly good cards recently. I wonder we’re due for a dud.
I heard one of my favorite MMA analysts mention that Izzy and Pereira were exchanging vibes. I hope neither is too distracted about a potential future matchup that they forget they’ve got pretty serious challengers right in front of them this weekend. (For those who don’t know, Pereira knocked out Izzy in a rematch of their kickboxing fight - Pereira won the first matchup, as well).
I’m ready to move on from the Holloway / Volkanovski fights. Feels like the featherweight division went from being “the next big thing” to almost kinda boring… Maybe needs some turnover.
Best card ever-
Cannonier gets too aggressive and Adesanya KOs him, like how he KOed Whittaker.
Volk does the unimaginable and KOs Holloway. Or the other way around, because I remember Holloway stunning Volk a couple of times in their second fight.
Pereira beats the shit out of Strickland and KOs him at some point.
Lawler shows that age is just a number by KOing Barberena in the first round.
Either O’Malley or Munhoz show off something spectacular; O’Malley by showing off he’s more than a hypejob by viciously KOing Munhoz, or Munhoz beats the shit out of O’Malley.
Worst card ever-
Adesanya continues to fight defensive and wait for his opponents to give opportunities to counter, leading to a 5 round fight where not much happens.
I can’t see how Volk vs Holloway will be bad. Both of them have very aggressive styles.
Strickland completely nullifies Pereira via grappling for 3 rounds while shouting ‘bring it on!’.
Lawler and Barberena becomes an uninspired 3rd fight.
Munhoz fails to engage O’Malley properly, but O’Malley can’t take him out either. So it’s just 3 rounds of not much happening besides O’Malley landing potshots.
…
Fuck, I’m scared that tomorrow is just going to be a lot of boring decisions.

I would love this, but man, Lawler vs. Diaz didn’t look great for either of them, despite Lawler getting the KO.
and man, a couple rounds in, he looks great, haha. So does Barbarena. Great fight so far.
The ending to that fight made me feel a bit sad. I thought he had it in the bag based on the first round.
As for the entire card-
Adesanya vs Cannonier- snoozefest.
Volk vs Holloway- Wow. Just wow.
Pereira vs Strickland- Pereira, please take Adesanya out.
Lawler vs Baberena- =*(
O’Malley vs Munhoz- I think O’Malley is an ass.
Sleeper card tonight featuring one of my favorite UFC fighters Rafael Dos Anjos taking on surging upstart muay Thai kickboxer Fiziev. Dos Anjos is one of the toughest guys in the UFC, with a resume that is really incredible (wins and losses). Ideal test for Fiziev as he tries to move up the ranks. And something that could get Dos Anjos back in title contention talk if he wins impressively (Dos Anjos is a former LW champion).
The rest of the card is thinner than thin. But sometimes these are the kind of cards that surprise us with the action …
I am more and more interested in the smaller events these days. The amount of hype that goes into events like 276 is bound to disappoint. The up-and-comers or the veterans making a last-ditch run to the top have to be more exciting, have to win the crowd over. Adesanya can spend all of his effort on Undertaker walk outs and then have a snooze-fest of a fight.
I haven’t paid for a UFC PPV in years. One of the things I like about the prelims (other than the fact that they are “free” on paid TV) is that those fighters tend to bring the action on a more consistent basis.
Brutal to see my man Dos Anjos go out like that. Held his own as a 37 year old UFC lightweight, which is not easy. Wouldn’t mind seeing him vs. Conor or Jim Miller. A few fun fights - no more contenders/gatekeeper matches. The point has been made. Let this legend go out in style.
RDA was down 3-1 going into that last round, but he was full of energy and Fiz was sapped. MASTERFUL cornering from Fiziev’s team. He went out there throwing high volume strikes and got it done. Just imagine the amount of boring fights that would have gone the other way if all fighters listened to the urgency of their corner the way Rafael did.
I have to say as a Brit…
Paddy Pimplett and Molly McCan really do annoy the fuck out of me.
Given way to favourable match ups for this card to try and artificially create the next star ![]()

I will have to give Paddy credit for the finish. It’s wild to be studying Gordon Ryan’s back escapes by day and , by night, watching guys in the UFC struggle against body triangles …
Gotta disagree. Paddy’s loud and ridiculous but his ground game is absolutely legit. Sweet hip toss in the last fight, awesome body triangle trapping the arm in this one.
Don’t worry - everyone has to fight a real test sometime. Nobody has had more layups than Sean O’Malley, and now he’s fighting Yan. Paddy’s is coming soon, and I think people are so distracted by his stupid character that he plays that they don’t see how intelligent he is on the mat.
Molly, I dunno. She doesn’t even seem that rude or annoying to me, but that’s just my opinion. It’s also my opinion that if she does get matched up with a legit fighter next and she tries that spinning elbow again, someone will have been watching film and is gonna kick her in the face.
