Hey, for anyone curious as to the eventual running time for The Two Towers, well Richard Taylor (efx extrodinaire, director of WETA) was quoted as saying the following after being asked if TT would be longer than FoTR:
“Oh definately. THE TWO TOWERS running time is going to be around 3 hours and 20 minutes long.”
AND, if any of you are interested, here is the URL of a online Tolkien dictionary: www.quicksilver899.com/ Tolkien/Tolkien_Dictionary.html (eliminate the space at "/" and "Tolkien").
Okay got this from the site: “Yet we know that Sauron and Morgoth had intercourse in the early years in Valinor.” Huh? Sauron and Morgoth fucked? Who was on the recieving end? I’m betting Sauron as he was Morgoths underling. Sauron doesn’t seem so tough now that he’s taken it in the ass. Tee hee hee.
Thanks Patricia. Wow, 3:20… and I thought the first one was long (which in my book is a plus, since it was enjoyable).
Here's what happend when I saw Fellowship... At the end of the movie the lights came on and a girl in the audience said, "What the fuck? What a shitty ending!"... then someone was nice enough to explain to her that there are going to be 2 more movies. Pretty funny. Apparently a lot of people didn't know this.
I loved the Fellowship and I can’t wait for the next 2. I think The Two Towers is gonna be the best one b/c of the endless action. Thanks for the dictionary Patricia. After I read the Silmarillion I may want to give things like this dictionary a try, but right now it is just way over my head. Thanks though.
I’m glad that some people on this forum find this stuff informative. I know I certainly do. Anywhoos just received my order from www.budplant.com - it is two copies of “Tolkien’s Ring” by David Day. It JRR Tolkien’s inspiration and sources. How he drew upon the ancient storytelling tradition from early western culture and Greek and Norse Mythologies. It is also beautifully illustrated by Alan Lee. Man, I say this book is a MUST to include in anyone’s library and quite the bargain at $18.95. Just a FYI.
And nkeago: I had to go on that site and find your "discovery" - all I have to say is: eeeeuuuwwww *scrunching nose*
I’m still thinking I took the “intercourse” statement the wrong way. I just can’t see J.R.R putting anything gay in his work. Maybe his name is Sore on.
