They did, in fact, stop prancing…but only for an instant. =)
Training update…

30-minute walk
Saturday 6/19: Deload deadlift

High bodyweight step-ups - 3x10
Planks - bodyweight, 3x30 seconds.

Lockouts: hadn’t ever done these, but husband thinks it will help, so…

Sled: 75lbs., 45yds. x 8
Going to the doctor in the morning. I can’t believe I’m actually hoping they find something wrong with me, lol. Thanks to mmgalb, I have a list of tests I am going to request. I’m also taking my food log and my training log so as reinforce the insanity of the fact that I am gaining weight and size. It’s ridiculous to think that I am training harder and eating cleaner than I ever have in my life, yet I feel terrible. So, we shall see. Thanks to those of you who have been inquiring =)
So…at my doctor’s appointment two weeks ago, the doctor took a look at my training log and food log and said I should weigh “like ten pounds” and said I am doing more things right than most of the doctor folk.
However, she was stunned to look back at my records and see that I have gained 16 pounds just since September. Ugh! After listening to all my complaints, she agreed that it definitely sounds like a thyroid issue and agreed with all the tests MMGALB had recommended plus an MRI. Now the plot thickens…
I went for the MRI today, which was not enjoyable in the least. I was left with a major headache and yucky tummy due to the dye they injected, which also resulted in blowing a vein in my hand, fun!
When I returned from the hospital, I had received the results from my blood work…everything was “normal,” with the exception of my cholesterol. So, enclosed with the useless form letter was a cookie-cutter “fat-restricted” diet which instructs me to eat 285 grams of carbs per day! (Remember, I’m hypoglycemic and gain weight just looking at bread.)
I am also to have no more than 99 grams of protein per day and 45 grams of fat. Hogwash! (I don’t use that word nearly enough.)
Needless to say, I am highly frustrated, disappointed, and generally at a loss. I am going to schedule a follow-up with my doc to go over all the results, including today’s MRI, and get referred to an endocrinologist. In addition to my full-time job, I am starting work on my doctorate AND teaching a couple college classes starting in six weeks, and I cannot do all of that successfully if I still feel like this! ARGH!!! Thanks for allowing me to ramble. I am open to suggestions…
ps - I am still training regularly and will post an update as soon as steam stops rolling out of my ears =)
Met with my doc for a follow-up yesterday and reviewed all my blood work and MRI. Have two more appointments on Friday. If you have any extra positive thoughts, I could use them. Thanks!
hmmm. not much of the cheerleader type, but arent you just a little tempted to follow that diet EXACTLY and come back a year later looking like shit, and saying, I TOLD YOU SO. and putting it on the news and everything. then, going through a mad molly transformation and coming back in ANOTHER year, leaner, healthier, with lower cholesterol, and telling the healthcare system of america to fuck off.
thats my idea of a positive thought.
so what did the MRI tell you?

Oh. my. god. This just confirms my theory that most people are not actually good at their jobs. Including doctors.
Shannon - thinking about you! <3 Call me if you need anything/have any questions/have any more info you can give me. Love you!
