The Supreme Court Fight is On. The Divide Worsens

Well, we may be getting a one week FBI investigation before the confirmation, after all. And if that doesn’t produce a witness to this party? Waiting on the 6th and 7th allegations to drop in the meantime. By the time it’s over there’ll be reports about how he ran an international sex-slave trade.Flake flaking out.

I disagree. Retaking the house leads to true stalling in DC. This would immediately become the scapegoat for all of the GOPs woes (or inability to get things done).

Imo the best case scenario to stopping Trump’s 2nd term is for the Dems to do ‘well’ in the midterms but not retake any part of Congress. Not only does this take the wind out of the strongest GOP sail, but the Dems have shown they don’t actually need a majority to piss on Trump’s parade.

I think the best case scenario is 1-2 seats short of controlling the house. Due to the GOPs inability to work together, that should equate out to roughly the same level of obstruction with far better long term optics.

Agreed. This has been the case for decades. Dems get shit done. Republicans don’t.

Yeah I heard this live and was waiting for that prosecutor to be like, “you don’t know if you paid for this? Are you high right now? You’re a psych professor that sounds like a valley girl and every sentence you end with an upward inflection with a question mark. And you want ppl to believe you from 35 years ago when you can’t answer a question about a couple weeks ago?” But she didn’t cause that was a horrible decision to have her ask questions. This is such a set up. It’s obvious. Only ppl it’s not obvious to are in the party that set it up.

That drives me crazy…

So I have to say:

I didn’t watch the hearings. But it seems to me everyone “saw what they wanted to see” in this hearing. My Facebook echo chamber (my wife is an opera singer; we’re pretty noncommittal politically, but let’s just say her friend circle leans a little bit left) is mostly people talking about how courageous and even-keeled Ford was and how unhinged Kavanaugh was. In here, I see (some) people suggesting that Ford was highly credible while others are saying she got busted for this or that.

FTR she did get busted lying to congress. And while I mentioned that, she seemed credible to be.

How can any honest person say either one of them is not credible? Ford has great professional credentials. Obviously Kavanaugh does too. They both come off as law-abiding, productive members of society. Unhinged? Outright angry at times, unhinged no. And I really don’t see how he can be blamed.

Blew my mind at the amount of comments I saw calling him too emotional and not fit for SCJ. Also, this. https://twitter.com/RileyJayDennis/status/1045356154178568193

People just want a robot that mimics their own political leanings. Plug in a question, output a ruling. They find it unnaceptable that a SCOTUS justice would have strong emotions or a personality.

Kind of funny, but i like a nominee I disagree with to have personality, and get a little unnerved when an agreeable nominee doesn’t haha.

As if he were there hearing a case.

Instead oft defending himself against an allegation for which the accuser’s witnesses can’t recall even the party. I mean he’s got to answer questions from a Senator who had already called him evil. And then refers to the accuser’s testimony as “her truth.”

He was busted as well. Neither is provable. Difference is one is a SCOTUS nominee who should be holding TRUTH and justice and the law in the highest regard, and one doesn’t need to. He was at a disadvantage in that regard from the get go.

Right now that is the 1% swaying me against kavanaughs appointment.

You haven’t noted anything he directly lied about and got caught on.

Utter fools.

Granted.

A whole bunch of questions about his past drinking/teenage BS were either lies or obvious misrepresentations of the truth. But can’t be substantiated and are essentially conflicting testimony.

As far as I know, Ford offered similarly conflicting testimony about the leak. Or am I missing something?

Goddamn I’m good.

Hats off, you called it.

I did say Flake was the X factor, I had no idea how much of a dunce he could be. I shan’t make that mistake again.

Here’s the next week:
FBI conclude investigation.

Democrats claim a week isn’t enough to conclude or ignore it all together.

Dem operatives dredge up any slime they can find to demand further delays.

Flake willows around like the spineless goon he is.
