She did actually they all did and no one cared.
Kavanaugh’s and Ford’s testimonies were equally believable. Kavanaugh maintained his presumption of innocence in face of Ford’s self serving statements. She admitted to consuming “one beer”-- she was 15. In my experience judges/juries discount testimony from a witness who admits to alcohol consumption during an incident.
Note to Californiagrown: The Senate Judiciary committee has lawyers on it. They understand presumption of innocence and hearsay are applicable to what just occurred.
Dude was obviously lying and downplaying his drinking habits. Lying under oath, however trivial, should disqualify you from SCOTUS. seems pretty simple to me.
I didn’t see his testimony, but what did he lie about? The only thing I’ve seen is that he acknowledged drinking to excess regularly. He only denied blacking out. He’s said it wasn’t the focus of his life, but that’s a pretty subjective claim.
He never, ever blacked out. Never passed out. And was evasive and combative when asked about stories regarding his excessive drinking from other witnesses.
I totally understand why he lied and was not forth coming, even if innocent. BUT, a SCOTUS nominee cannot lie under oath during testimony.
He also claimed he never passed out? I don’t find it impossible he never blacked out.
Ya, I’ve never blacked out/passed out either. I’m not really sure why this is even an issue.
We need to know that he believes flatulence is funny. It is disqualitative.
Nor I, and that is with some HEAVY drinking.
He said he drank enough to fall asleep, but denied blackout or passout.
Can multiple people confirm you partied your face off over 5-6 years? We’re you the treasurer of “the 100 keg club”? Cause if not, you probly didn’t party on the same level.
Just saying, out of both testimonies, this is the only part I, and most people found incredulous. Both parties were credible and believable otherwise.
Um, Ford got busted lying about her fear of flying.
And was anyone else concerned about the ‘beach friends?’ Or that she could not remember who paid for her polygraph?
That dog won’t hunt with me.
Lol. Treasurer of the 100 keg club, that’s cute. I was in the Marine Corps from 18-22…
Also, either she or Feinstein are lying about the letter leak, and Feinstein threw her under the bus.
Edit: I can’t spell.
I have 2 close friends currently in the Marines and 4 frat Bros that I met post-marines. Marine culture must have changed. Badass dudes for sure though.
But if your experience was how you are implying, I’m not sure how you can’t watch those kavanaugh answers with a smirk haha
I doubt it, but then again, they use ACOGs during rifle qual now so who knows.
I’m simply saying I drank a shit ton of alcohol when I was in my early 20s and never once blacked/passed out.
This whole preceding is a joke. What’s not to smirk at?
I don’t know how her team allowed that to happen. if anyone has forgotten. one of the big reasons she needed the hearing date pushed back was because she couldn’t fly and it would take time to make the drive. In the end, she flew to DC. Furthermore, she had to admit that she’s flown numerous times for both business and leisure.
As to the reliability of her memory. She couldn’t recall if she had shared her therapist’s notes with the Washington Post, or simply described the contents. That was only weeks ago. I guess, but it seems like you’d remember the process and hand off of medical records (notes) to a media organization for a bombshell story.
The way the hearing was handled should have been better, but I think that accusations of attempted rape, which are seen as credible accross the political spectrum, are nothing to smirk at.
Not only should the hearing have been better, but the way Feinstein handled the accusation should have been better. The confirmation proceeding has been a joke.
It’s not surprising. It’s just annoying.
Agreed and I didn’t.
