The Supreme Court Fight is On. The Divide Worsens

I have to say she seems credible.

Butttt… really dont like how an allegation unsupported by any shred of other evidence, no matter how convincingly made, should be enough to derail a SCOTUS nomination. Memory is faulty and corroborating evidence should be provided in such a serious hearing.

Also its now been proved the fear of flying is total BS

Far from perfect. If they made it up it would be much much cleaner to claim it wasn’t at public events where corroborating witnesses could support or discount the claims. I do pause, because I don’t know all the facts, but your reasoning for pausing is seriously flawed.

That then suggests it, as it is unfolding in reality, DOESN’T look good because these claims HAVE happened in public and nobody has come forward… Where in fact, the potential witnesses to even the existence of the party (Ford) has denied, or not remembered, by all named as having been there. .

And if they aren’t perfect as they are, how does Kavanaugh disprove even being at a party nobody else remembers existing? And even which party, at what location, on what date? Ford’s own close friend doesn’t remember being at such a party.

Ok, back to watching

There’s no need for evidence in the court of public opinion especially this close to a primary. He’s done. Time to move on.

I bet he doesn’t even get a vote.

Idk bout you but I’d hardly call 6 people a party. And it was almost 40 years ago, so remembering it would be unlikely, especially if kav/judges rapey drunk behavior was typical (per the other accusers stories).

I think it’s a tough situation and idk who to believe. But nothing tells me one of them is more likely to be lying or mistemebering at this point. Haven’t listened to the testimony though.

Yep I agree

I was going to say. So much for unity…
The good news is one of these people is lying. The bad news is I don’t think we’ll ever know who it is unless somebody botches up something miserably.
What I don’t get is why we let people we never have met, probably never will, destroy our relationships with others?

The only thing you can say is “I wasn’t allowed to go to parties in high school. So there was no way I was at one. I am not saying she’s lying, but it wasn’t me.”

If neither wavers, I figure you believe who you want to believe.
I don’t expect Kavanaugh to waver.

I was at a party where the entire deck collapsed. I remember where is was approximately, and when it was approximately. It wasn’t a tall deck, people just got 3 feet shorter all of the sudden. And I got the hell out of dodge. I knew who I was with how I got there and how I left. It was 30 years ago.
If somebody has a different recollection to me, more power to them…

Well, one of them is a psychology professor…

True. Appearing credible is easy when you know all the tricks of the trade.
I don’t really know except I have as many questions as I did before today.

Although if he was the Conductor on 10 trains, I’d give him the nomination for being able to pull off the impossible…

I don’t know. This is so grimy and political that I don’t think anybody’s mind will change. The people that believe her will still believe her, the people that believe him, will continue to believe him.

What I am not certain of, is that she want’s that FBI investigation. They have to investigate her credibility as well allll the way back to high school. And I know a lot of people do things in college they’d rather people not know they did. She says this affected her negatively for years, well that can go many ways, some of those ways, not so flattering.

Sure, of those whose mind is already made up. How many minds aren’t made up on both the accusations and who to vote for in the mid-term elections? I would be shocked (not the first time) if the Republican’s push Kavanaugh through and it doesn’t directly result in lost seats. History is already not on their side in terms of keeping the seats they do have.

Nope. Kavanaugh is definitely still in this. She may appear credible, but so does he. Powerful opening statement.

I bet 100 internet dollars the GOP folds on this one.

Internet dollars? That’s a bet I can’t pass up.

Kavanaugh, treasurer of the 100keg club, just testified that he has never passed out from drinking… He has just fallen asleep at times. Ahahahaha. Come on now!

You’ve never fallen asleep after drinking? And I think he clarified he is saying he never ‘blacked out’ which is what some have suggested. “Maybe he blacked out and attempted to rape her, so of course he doesn’t remember. He was blackout drunk!” It’s funny that that this comes down to Kavanaugh drinking, which he hasn’t denied…

Man, Kavanaugh’s emotions are real. I feel bad for the guy. Politics are fucking evil.
