The Supreme Court Fight is On. The Divide Worsens

As they are confessing to sexual assault, and can be prosecuted for same (I was wrong
upthread–MD has no statute of limitations for this crime), this would be quite the lie.

Meh, I don’t think people are buying that. The timing was suspicious to begin with and there has been zero evidence. I think the Dems walk away looking bad after this whole ordeal. And like I said, I’ve seen plenty of democrats fed up with this.

I’m just ready for this shit show to end. I have better things to worry about like if the Vikings will show up tonight.

Yeah but that hasn’t changed with this recent revelation

Eh, I doubt it. Republicans didn’t give 2 shits when their people did it. Seriously doubt this flips more than a handful of votes. Worst case it just makes a couple people stay home

Same. Kinda wish the GOP would just sack up and vote. It’s a shitty news cycle for sure

The question I’ve been asking myself about the third accuser’s accusations.

CNN Anchor Skeptical of Kavanaugh ‘Gang Rape’ Accusation: ‘They Don’t Make Sense to Me’

Camerota took a skeptical tone with Avenatti from the gate, repeating many of the Swetnick accusations and asking bluntly why she would continue to go to parties where she said drugging and gang raping were a regular occurrence…

“How is any of this possible? How is it possible that if she saw any of these things she would continue to go to house parties like this?” she pressed. “Why would she ever go back. Why would she go to 10 of those house parties?”

To the contrary–there’s beaucoup evidence, eg, her assertions have been corroborated in a timeframe well preceding Kavanaugh’s nomination.

As someone slightly older than the principals involved, the fact that her claim requires that she continued to frequent such loathsome gatherings does not render me skeptical of her story. Sad to say, the sort of behavior alleged to have occurred did not elicit the same outrage back in the day that it does now. The twin evils of ‘boys will be boys’ and ‘she brought it on herself’ were even more entrenched and accepted then than they are now. It was a case of ‘that’s just the way the world is.’

A man once asked a similar question regarding his circumstances:

I suspect something similar happened in this broad’s case.

With that, I could understand her not reporting after she stopped attending. But her claim requires that she continued to attend parties with rape lines. Not only does that seem to involve a lack of survival instinct, but it sort of makes her responsible. She’s a college aged woman who continues to attend rape gang parties attended by high-schoolers. Ok, she doesn’t report it. But, not only that, she knowingly attends rape gang parties and watches men line up to take turns on drugged women.

Sales are made by emotion, rather than recitation of facts.
Ie benefits, not features.

GOP is getting schooled so far through 3+3 alternating rounds.

To believe her, you have to also believe Kavanaugh has exercised inhuman restraint keeping his pants zipped in the decades since. Just look at his family for proof.

Whelp, I just read her prepared statement. RIP Kavanaugh’s SCOTUS nomination based on the optics alone.

Re the two men who contacted the committee and claimed responsibility for Ford’s assault:

"In a television interview Thursday morning, Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.), a committee member, said he didn’t believe them.

“One’s crazy as a loon, I don’t believe the other one,” Graham said during an appearance on CBS This Morning. “I’m not going to play this game."

If Graham dismisses these claims out of hand, that casts them in a significantly negative light.

Emotional. No corroborating facts. It wasn’t anything new. Not impossible, sure… But it seems odd that her close friend doesn’t remember Brett and Judge drunkenly showing up at an otherwise quiet (not even music) and sober gathering. Then, later, her (Keyser’s) friend (Ford) disappears from the gathering. And, Keyser, doesn’t remember that.

Waiting on Kavanaugh.

There are millions of sorority girls you’d take issue with then. Even today, certain frats at certain campuses are known as generally rapey… And yet plenty of girls still go to those parties.

LIke, they repeatedly see men lined up for their turn at rape? Or, have heard things from others? A reputation they question?

And, then, with at least 10 parties, you would think dozens–if not maybe hundreds–of people would have also attended. Where are they?

Like they personally know other girls who have been rufied, or have been raped when blacked out drunk. Social pressures, combined with accepted risk and the attitude that it won’t happen to them keeps them coming back.

Abuse victim behavior is not logical.

Likely it was the same core group of folks… Like most high school parties.

Do you pause at how perfect it is though? There’s no way to falsify anything. In each instance it’s been one person claiming something happened at a public gathering. And not one corroborating witness from those events has stepped forward? Not a single one? And there is no way to truly defend yourself. You have no date to check an alibi against, for example.
