The Stupid Thread 2 (Part 1)

You done?

Sorry I hurt your feelings.

Have you even considered Keanu Reeves or Wayne Gretzky?

Sorry Trudeau hurt your freedoms

Both are admirable mentions, but Jordan Peterson just has too many qualities I wish I had myself. Keanu Reeves would be a close second for sure.

I am a little hurt about that to be honest.

Might I recommend voting in favor of a party that actually stands by your freedoms instead?

TBH Trudeau’s actions pissed me off much more than they should have. I was a little hurt for ya’ll too.

Hey!!

Arguing with @Andrewgen_Receptors is my job, find your own conservative.

I do. All political parties in Canada a very similar. Our conservative party is probably more left leaning than the democrats.

But are they less authoritarian?

Anyone south of the border is more aligned with me than those who are north of it. I just can’t get down with big govt folks - they know not of which they ask for.

Didn’t intend to argue with anyone. Thought what the woman said in the video to be quite stupid. Unfortunately I see a lot of posts like that from conservatives in the US. I’m sure that represents a very small amount of conservatives. Was just poking a bit.

No. They just have a different way of achieving the same goal.

Most do. In the end, what WE all want is freedom and prosperity - the path to get there is what we tend to disagree on… That’s why these conversations are important IMO.

Same, she big dumb.

This is true. We’re skeptical and I think its completely reasonable to be skeptical… the problem is when you start realizing how much stuff blatantly isn’t true, you start going down the rabbit hole and not believing anything you hear.

^There’s actually a strong correlation between conspiracy theorists and schizophrenics, which makes sense when you think about it… if you can’t tell what’s real and fake, how are you any different from a schizophrenic?

Anyways, yes - a few too many conservatives go off the deep end. Conversely I think there are too many republicans and democrats that don’t question what they hear enough either.

could be selection bias…are your preferred media outlet(s) is (are) biased…

I used to watch some of those ā€œgotchaā€ street interviews on YouTube for laughs, but also understand that what’s being presented is the bottom of the barrel so to speak and most likely do not represent all of ā€œxā€ group or even the median/mean of ā€œxā€ group of people…

My wife’s aunt believes that playing dungeons and dragons is a cult equivalent to satanism and contributed to her son’s depression and eventual suicide (it’s sad). And she is as conservative and Baptist as they come.

Well, D&D carries some of the markers of a cult, but no more than being a Baptist lol. I think it’s telling that she placed more blame on D&D causing him to kill himself… Don’t blame the gun for killing someone, ya know?

(I’d rather not go into too much detail on this one because I don’t want to offend someone… which is super likely knowing who I am)

Regarding going off the deep end…
Alex Jones actually speaks about his psychosis a bit in one of Joe Rogan’s podcasts. It makes perfect sense IMO - when you get so deep into certain conspiracies that get proven true, at what point can you trust what you see around you?

9/11 was a really formative event for me; I was like 6 or 7 years old and the men of military age in my town emptied out by the end of the week, they had all enlisted. Years later as I ignored the inconsistencies of 9/11, I started reading into some of these concerns and it tore down a bit of who I had built myself up to be. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has felt this; luckily I stayed away from most conspiracies and was able to navigate myself to truth.

True, but every religion carries a few of the markers (or any tight knit group of people for that matter).
Knowing more about her, I truly think it was her parenting style and refusal to get him help with a therapist that were the biggest issues (she’s one of the ā€œif your mental health is off, it’s 'cause you ain’t right with Godā€) types.

Not sensitive at all. Both conservatives and liberals mostly suck.

I am not either tbh. It is fun to make fun of both of them.

I find it funny you think you can tell sensitivity off of a forum. Do you have some form of mind reading I am not aware of?

My parents have some similar beliefs. Harry Potter and yoga were on the satanic list. She is concerned with electromagnetic waves (my parents don’t have WIFI for this reason). I think my dad kinda goes along with it to avoid conflict.

It does concern me as she gets older that she is going to get scammed out of her money. She already kinda does, but it is somewhat in check. She takes my low functioning autistic brother to a natural healer once a month at an exorbitant cost. She spends thousands a year on vitamins for him that have had no noticeable impact (because of the advice of this natural healer). I’ve tried to tell her that she needs to research these things more, but she is convinced. I really hope someone exposes that quack healer.

I am trying to look at the positives of it. Mostly that she is a very caring person who is trying her best to help her disabled son. Still want to strangle that quack though.

Probably the biggest issue.
