My sis used to work at the top levels of energy research & development, and even spent some time at one of there installations locally.
She said its an extraordinarily corrupt organization and quit the sector entirely. Shortly after, a department head and several others were found to be taking some very large bribes for favorable treatment of various research projects. The dept. head then ate his gun and various others sort of faded away as the news cycle passed on by for other juicier and more salacious stories.
I think corruption is an eternal fact of life, but where we have run off the rails is the total lack of consequences. There are articles, hearings, and then nothing. Business goes on as usual.
When the perpetrators are in federal prison in the general population getting repeatedly raped in the shower, then behavior will change.
Kind of like when tons of members in Congress were tossing money into warmongering groups, merc groups, and weapons manufacturers about 10 months before Russia invaded Ukraine.
Anyone watching knew war was coming somewhere that we would be supporting or involved in.
I mean it might be, but they donāt follow it. Or not in the way you think they do.
Congress has 72% of their premium paid by a Congressional Stipend - they have to choose a gold plan under the DC Exchange and they also have free healthcare via The Office of the Attending Physician from primary care to anything you can think of.
They also get stipends to pay for basically everything Memberās Representational Allowance (MRA) for the house and Senatorās Official Personnel and Office Expense Account (SOPOEA) for the senate.
So I guess technically they fall under Obamacare just at the premium level hardly anyone else can afford with added free benefits.
I implore you to go on the healthcare exchange and see what a plan would cost you at the gold level - if you make any money at all. It is laughable.
This had me almost falling out of my chair laughing.
I see why these people are poor. They are more worried about their pride and how they look to those around them than focusing on actually making money.
