Why would you think that? The name could trigger people even if it isnāt directly related to the actual cause of their trigger. The world needs to be made safe for all people and their triggers.

Seattle City Council Bans Less Lethal
Now, even major city police agencies are admitting that the only person who can take care of you is you. Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best recently warned business owners and residents of her city. Local police will not ārisk their personal safety to protect property,ā she wrote. The warning comes after city officials banned police from using less-lethal tools like pepper spray for dispersing crowds to control rioters.
Well done, Chief. I like the way you stepped up. Protecting the citizens of Seattle is your job and if the only way you can do it is warning your citizens, then at least you did something.
This ordinance bans Seattle Police officers [from using] less lethal tools, including pepper spray that is commonly used to disperse crowds that have turned violent,ā Best wrote in a letter to business owners and other residents. āSimply put, the legislation gives officers NO ability to safely intercede to preserve property in the midst of a large, violent crowd.ā
The upshot is that police wonāt be responding to rioters destroying businesses and homes as the riots continue; this is a welcome outcome for those fomenting the violence and destruction. But itās understandable, given Bestās need to protect her officers.
Read that twice, now read it again. Try to imagine a small business owner, who has worked their last 20 years trying to build a profitable place that provides a service and jobs. Now, they have no protection from the terrorists who may decide to destroy their business. and, God Forbid, if they decide to fight back to save their business, that is simply not allowed. Better to have your life destroyed that hurt a little rioter.
āFor these reasons, Seattle Police will have an adjusted deployment in response to any demonstrations this weekend as I will never ask our officers to risk their personal safety to protect property without the tools to do so in a safe way,ā she wrote.
Good for you. Your responsibly is to your officers.
āSome have asked why officers are not arresting those engaging in criminal behavior, as officers do every day, and as they have in recent protests,ā she wrote. āIf it is safe to do so, and even when it places their lives in danger, our officers always directly address criminal behavior. They do this, however, when they know they have the tools shown to allow the safe use of their policing powers. This Council ordinance denies them access to these tools that have been an essential part of their court-approved tactics.ā
Unfortunately, those pleas apparently fell upon deaf ears. Consequently, any death and destruction caused by violent rioters in coming days rests squarely on the Seattle City Council.

Itās weird how there was this push for less than lethal weapons and body cams. Now Seattle is against less than lethal weapons and BLM is against bodycams.

SPD really misused their less-lethal crowd dispersion options in the early days of the protest (pre-CHOP) and was banned from using them by the council (or mayor?) then. Is this article old, or is this a new ban moving forward?

There are actually much fewer complaints because of bodycams. The reality is this, few of these so called liberal, leftist, Marxist, activists have seen the true dark side of the ghetto. Those who have, donāt want the rest of the world to see it. Thatās why a lot of these demands donāt benefit poor blacks but middle class blacks with sociology degrees.
A black man in Detroit was killed by police after he pulled out a gun and tried to shoot a cop while his friend was being arrested forā¦triple murder. Yes, he tried to kill a cop in front of a bunch of cops. The story starting spreading that he was pulling out a cell phone. The police released the footage as soon as they could to get ahead of any rioting and it clearly showed him firing a gun at a cop. BLM wouldnāt want the world to see that for two reasons: one, it shows what really happened and two, it shows just how incredibly stupid some ghetto people are. A normal person would be inclined to believe the cell phone story because who could believe that someone would be dumb enough to pull a gun on a cop in that situation. Who would be crazy enough? Spend some time in the ghetto and you wonāt be surprised by the stupid decisions people make. Michael Brown, stupid. Rayshard Brooks, stupid.
