That’s British to you, colonial.
I’m thinking of sending the 19-29 year old labour voting students as a trade. Surely they’d be delighted to have a bunch of university educated doctrinaire Marxists?

If we play our enemy’s game we sell it to them like this.
We shall further diversify our society by exchanging young white people for just about anyone from Hong Kong who would like to come.
If anyone disagrees, we’ll get them doxxed, fired and run out of social media on a rail for their shameful acts of racist hatred towards our new American citizens from Hong Kong.
It’s almost become a cliche that residents of other states shake their heads in dread when noting an apparent influx of California license plates.
The latest exchange in this thread is a perfect illustration of the “Why?”.
Photosynthesis has a dark side?
Since we’re now dealing with a group led by self avowed Marxists I don’t think we don’t need to operate under assumptions of good faith. Marxism is only a power game. Defunding the police, or as they are pushing in my area, de-militarizing the police is only a way to sew chaos and remove potential challengers to their accension to power.
I don’t think that they believe they will actually succeed in this effort this time. But what are doing is making the job increasingly difficult and unappealing. You won’t have to find enough useful idiots to defund the police if they just don’t show up to work, as has been happening in Atlanta and other major cities. Even after the current blu-flu pandemic passes, recruitment will continue to suffer and retention will be even worse, as all of the best officers will fly to the suburbs and surrounding counties where they are still treated halfway decently.
If they had a clue, they would already have been improving things. The idea that suddenly, with the defund the police movement, they had some epiphany is silly. It’s not as though they weren’t already getting money to do whatever it is they do. Now, they’ll just have more money to waste on things that don’t work.
The left’s insidiousness continues. Apparently, the removal of statues and paintings of dead racist Democrats hanging in Congressional Halls aren’t enough.
That’s the sad part. The greatest influence on kids is their peers which means no matter how good of a parent you are, some kids with shitty parents can make your job a lot harder.
There is this Tyler Perryesque myth of the single black mother working three jobs to keep her family together. For every mother like that, there are five who are getting their nails done while their kids are eating potato chips for dinner.
I used to do big brothers/big sisters. I went to the kid’s house in the projects after school and he was outside playing. He told me he was locked out of the house. I asked where his mother was and he said inside. The next question was how can you be locked out if your mother is inside. She’s probably sleeping was the answer. And when he knocked again and was finally let in the house, all you heard was a barrage of mother fuckers coming from inside. His mother was unmarried with three kids from three different men and she was illiterate.
I don’t necessarily disagree with the rest of your post, but I think that actual demilitarization of the police with regard to weapons is probably a good thing (save for SWAT/HRTs).
Of course the people in question are using that as a step in the game, not a policy change.
I know it’s fox news but…fuck no.
“For him to be at the top of Bascom [Hill] as a powerful placement on our campus, it’s a single-handed symbol of white supremacy,” Black Student Union president Nalah McWhorter told the outlet
And fuck you too.
The phrase “de-militarize” seems to mean whatever the people using it want it to mean. In some cases it means a lack of protective equipment like external plate carriers, which look militarized, but offer superior ballistic protection. I personally value officer safety over irrational feelings.
Or it can mean a lack of riot gear:
It can mean no ARs or other scary guns. But if there is an active shooter, do you want Barney Fife to show up with a revolver and one bullet in his pocket? I’d rather they show up with a modern rifle with a modern optic so they can make a precision shot.
In a nearby municipality the activists want the police to give up their armored vehicle. My cousin, who is like my little brother took cover behind that vehicle a few weeks ago when they were taking fire from one or more gunmen who were hiding in a crowd of over 300 “activists” or “peaceful demonstrators” or whatever they are called these days. I can’t link to a news story on that because the local news media didn’t include the part about the police being fired on by the mob. I’ve seen pics, but won’t post them as they have agency markings on them, and if they were traced back to my cousin, could cost him his job.
Because it might take you days, and a combing of fine print, to find this story elsewhere…
Yep.
Us sports fans are simpletons, but we be smart enough to know you can’t judge people outside of their era. #JesseOwens was one slow sumabitch -10.3 seconds 100 meter dash? SCRUB!!!
In Madison they also pulled down a statue of abolitionist Hans Christian Heg last week. The guy joined the Union Army and died fighting to end slavery and they toppled his statue and threw it in a lake. Good thinking.
Agree with this. I seem to remember back in the 80’s when the crack epidemic hit that the police were often outgunned by the people they were trying to arrest. There was also the North Hollywood shootout in the 90’s. Anybody remember this: The North Hollywood shootout, 20 years later - YouTube
I’m sure the vast majority of officers in the vast majority of municipalities don’t get nearly enough firearms training nor practice. But that’s an argument for more funding, not less.
Take your pick…
What military weaponry do you believe others are using?
Speaking of the need for military weapons:
According to the article, family members on scene were upset at the care their family member was recieving, so they assaulted and otherwise actively interfered with the people who were trying to provide life saving care.
Apparently we are all to live as hostages to people with the reasoning ability and emotional control of toddlers.
I have been doing this is one capacity or another for over a decade now, and have been in these incidents. But the national contempt for police and the rule of law is only going to embolden these morons, so we will see more of this kind of behavior in the future. Now we have the added element of social media and the enhanced ability to summon an angry mob with unprecedented rapidity. A scene can go from safe to unsafe in seconds.
My dark prediction: the next big controversy will be a firefighter or EMT shooting one or more “concerned family members” at a scene like this. But chaos is the goal, so chaos will continue.
I think it’s related to the Dunning- Kruger Effect. In the past idiots who thought they were smart were limited to affecting those immediately around them. Now, because of the internet, they can share their stupidity with the world, making them think they must be even smarter. This brings about a sense of entitlement that makes them think they can do whatever they want because, like Fredo: “I can handle things! I’m smart! Not like everybody says… like dumb… I’m smart and I want respect!”

Read the article. Totally disgusting. Un -fucking-believable, trying to save a life and subjected to mob rule.
I don’t the laws in Virginia, but, in this state, you are under no legal obligation to save a life. This keeps happening and you may find that a growing trend.
However, the report goes on to say that some from the crash scene followed an ambulance to Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital and began to “jump on, kick and hit multiple EMS vehicles causing damage.”
What fucking dickheads. What fucking cowards.
The article doesn’t say, but I doubt any of those scum were arrested, and in the off chance they were arrested, there is an astronomically small chance that they will actually be prosecuted.
What most “polite society” doesn’t know is this will inevitably affect them and their loved ones in a time of need. Right now, on certain calls fire and EMS stages, some distance down the road and around the corner from the scene until police can get there and make it safe, or at least safe enough.
In the incident in the article their response time from when the call was recieved by dispatch to when the first unit arrived on scene was 6 minutes, which is pretty good. Add in the need to stage for police, and that could easily be another 2 - 5 minutes.
But wait, there’s more! Add in the danger of flashmobs, one or two officers to secure the scene is no longer enough, now we need 10 or 15, and your response time is 20 - 30 minutes, and that’s more than enough wait time to kill a lot of people. Add in a blu-flu pandemic, and lots of luck to you and yours!
