The Stupid Thread 2 (Part 1)

LOVE IT, @loppar!

Tbf … when I served 15 years ago we were always briefed to not talk to the press under any circumstances for various reasons … largest reason was opsec … we had pr people and commanders to do that

I wish more people would understand this. The currency we use only holds value because we believe it does. There is nothing of substance (in the way of usable goods) backing it up. It might as well be cryptocurrency except that the government insures your deposits (easy to do when they print the money).

This could very well have been ā€œbusiness as usualā€ā€¦

It also could have been another instance of Trump’s battle against ā€œThe Enemy of the Peopleā€

Since I don’t have all of the facts; I’ll concede that it was the former…with a large bit of skepticism because of this President.

The reason state issued fiat currency is seen as more secure is because they can tax and/or seize the assets of citizens (Cyprus). The state basically has a claim on whatever percentage of the production of the populace that it decrees it does.

Good point. I had forgotten about that little tidbit (due to its inherent unpleasantness).

It amazes me systems like this in western countries have lasted as long as they have without some major revolutions coming more frequently.

Damn, I need to go back to college. I never knew I was a racist, fascist bastard for taking my niece to see ā€œThe Lion Kingā€ . I have probably created a racist hating bitch, who dreams of killing minorities in an all out race war.

ā€˜The Lion King’ offers us a seductive worldview in which absolute power goes unquestioned, and where the weak and the vulnerable are fundamentally inferior.ā€ In the budding socialist, all-inclusive culture that our author seems to want so bad, the fact that Simba or Mufasa have any authority is a no-go. Forget the fact that their peaceful stewardship of Pride Rock is the only thing that keeps the hyenas at bay.

ā€œWith the lions standing in for the ruling class and the ā€˜good’ herbivores embodying society’s decent, law-abiding citizens, the hyenas transparently represent the black, brown and disabled bodies that are forcefully excluded from this fascist society.ā€

Not to mention the story of the lion king isn’t based on any theory of government or class. It’s literally how Lions work.

The Alpha Male has the harem and almost no other males get to mate. Other males challenge the Alpha until he’s eventually killed. Then the winner kills all the old Alpha’s offspring and gets the harem.

It’s not a commentary on human race or government at all. And how can it be White Supremasist with Mufasa voiced by James Earl Jones?

Who IS this ā€œJames Earl Jonesā€ of whom you speak???

The Voice was mine…and mine alone…

Is this a CHALLENGE???

Not really. I don’t feel like ripping your throat out with my teeth. Fighting with your face sounds exhausting.

The same argument was made when it came out the first time. The same argument could be tweaked to fit any Disney movie. Those seven dwarves represented the oppressed working class.

Do the lions kill and eat other animals in the movie? If not, then it is literally not how lions work.

Mufasa revealing the ā€˜might makes right’ fascism at his deep heart’s core.

It must be true, the Washpo told me so.

He covered that, you Nazi!

"But it’s also not enough. In our increasingly nostalgic culture, we need to recognize that the real problem with ā€œThe Lion Kingā€ isn’t the ethnicity of its voice actors, just as the inherent misogyny of ā€œThe Little Mermaidā€ can’t be salvaged by casting a black actress in a role that’s notorious for sexualizing and objectifying teenage girls’ bodies. These films consistently champion authoritarian and anti-democratic values by reproducing a worldview in which power, strength and privilege are genetically determined, and where the weak and vulnerable only exist to serve, support and flatter their masters.ā€

They eat bugs? Also, it is heavily implied that they hunt the savannah into a famine.

They are all wrong anyway. The Lion King is a feudalist film. It shows how the land withers until the true king returns.

The cynic in me wonders about a lot of these type of articles. I mean we know that these type of things get clicks. And it’s not hard to write them.

I’m not saying the author isn’t genuine but it’s sad that many major news sites all have this type of stuff going on. It’s because clicks pay the bills. And absurd takes get linked on other sites, shared on Facebook and twitter and people go read the original article.

I definitely think many writers are taking crazy ass positions merely because it gets attention and generates clicks and money/future influence. And all these sites ā€œneedā€ to share this stuff because then people are clicking on them and maybe reading other stories and shit. We’re definitely in a period where getting talked about is good business whether it’s because people are happy or not.

Fuck we’re talking about a country so fucking stupid Alex Jones has made millions.

Dues Vult, or God save the Queen. It’s a genuine Sophie’s choice.
