The Stupid Thread 2 (Part 1)

Shanghai has started “trash seperation” (“wet waste”, “dry waste”, recyclable and hazardous), which is getting seriously neurotic

Here’s a taste:
Chicken bones and duck bones are “wet garbage”, but large pork bones are “dry”
The bag that holds “wet garbage” is “dry garbage”
Mango pits are “dry” but peach and cherry pits are “wet”

violations will result in a 200 RMB (around $30 fine)- to be enforced by the all power neighborhood associations of middle aged women aka former Red Guards

Here’s the kicker: There are now apps, songs and children’s iPhone games to teach this!

Drawing a correlation where there shouldn’t be one is a halmark of identity politics. Correlation does not equal causation.

Also, I believe most reasonable people agree that slavery is/was an inhumane practice. However, it was common throughout the world in 1776. Slavery was an artifiact of the times. It doesn’t mean that the Declaration of Indedependence is all of sudden a document of lesser importance because we have a different view of slavery now.

Apparently, according to the article, the flag was appropriated as a symbol by extremist groups. I never heard of that. So you have two groups, two fringe groups, on opposite sides of the identity politics issue telling the rest of us what to think.

And how is Colin Kaperwhatever still a thing?

Bingo. And most of this country (especially many in my generation) are okay with being told how to think. No one gets past first level thought to determine if something is actually an issue or not.

Because his partnership with Nike turned out to be wildly profitable for both parties involved.

And because the GOP needs a Boogeyman

just the GOP? pretty sure the alt-right is less effective than Kap

The Dems HAVE a boogyman. He has the nuclear codes.

The GOP are the ones forced to use abstract now that Obama and Hillary aren’t available

They can get fucked. And so can the other people who have now all of a sudden decided to give up, be pussies and let those douchebags steal an American symbol.

It’s not fucking offensive and saying so is just another way to let the extremist neanderthals win. "Ok, I give up you win. I’m going to be offended from now on because I don’t have the balls to say ‘NO you can’t make this symbol yours’ ".

I’m sure those extremists wear pants so I guess pants are offensive too.

The funny thing is that I have never seen any extremist, right or left, in real life. I sometimes think the media made it all up.

I’ve seen people who are wearing the stereotypical leftist extremist uniform - nose ring, bad dye job, terrible fitting clothes etc etc - working at local coffee shops and pizza joints. They’ve all seemed very nice when engaging with them 1 on 1 tbh - I’d imagine they wouldn’t be as nice if I told them my political leanings but I can’t confirm at this moment…

There are half assed marches in the city I live near; I’ve seen pictures from them … they seem fairly tame compared to the shit show we see out of places like Portland - but again, I can’t verify if any of these people are actually extremists or just regular ass people in extremists costumes…

I hate it, but it’s only right if we’re going to remain consistent. I will not be surprised in the slightest if there is serious talk about an entirely new flag and set of symbols within a dozen or so years.

Or, enough is enough, the flag is displayed everywhere as symbolic pushback against PC gone wild. And, we know at least one presidential candidate who’ll be displaying theirs while riding that sentiment for all it’s worth.

I’m thinking someone is jealous of the parties his dictator friends get to throw. Fucking idiotic.

But when you put a reality tv narcissist in office you get this stuff as part of the deal. “Everyone look at me!!!”

(I mean look at America…)

Now, now, now, @H_factor

Don’t be hatin’ on the Narcissist in Chief…

If his Bro’s Kim Jong-Un and Vlady-P can have parades…why can’t OUR NIC???

(Seems like another despot parallel to me, @loppar and @thunderbolt23… )

“…The Pentagon has been giving out printed instructions to all personnel about what to say… and not to say… when speaking to the media…”

I’m sure Kim and Vlady are proud…

(…and President Obama would have been hung from the rafters after 275, GOP-lead congressional investigations…)

All the other girls in my class were throwing themselves at his feet begging, wanting to hook up with him. But he’s so cool and handsome and dangerous and he’s all mine. There’s this special bond between us, this chemistry and I think that I’m in love

Love this in the article, @loppar

"Two Trump re-election campaign officials told NBC News Thursday that the “Salute to America” would not be documented for future campaign ads or video, calling it “entirely an official White House event.”

Right.

This definitely belongs in the “Stupid” thread…because I actually think that Trump and his people think that most of us are just that…stupid…

And I believe that statement about as much as I believe that Trump is a “Born-Again” Conservative…

Actually the right back then was going nuts just because Obama said he might talk to them. Trump strokes Putin and Kim and talks about how great they are and they are silent as it gets.

The Republican Party just wakes up and see what Trump is deciding he is for today and then say “guess we’re doing this now guys.”

I found this on Twitter, this is awesome:

Things that happen in Silicon Valley and also the Soviet Union:

  • waiting years to receive a car you ordered, to find that it’s of poor workmanship and quality

  • promises of colonizing the solar system while you toil in drudgery day in, day out

  • living five adults to a two room apartment

  • being told you are constructing utopia while the system crumbles around you

  • ‘totally not illegal taxi’ taxis by private citizens moonlighting to make ends meet

  • everything slaved to the needs of the military-industrial complex

  • mandatory workplace political education

  • productivity largely falsified to satisfy appearance of sponsoring elites

  • deviation from mainstream narrative carries heavy social and political consequences

  • networked computers exist but they’re really bad

  • Henry Kissinger visits sometimes for some reason

  • elite power struggles result in massive collateral damage, sometimes purges

  • failures are bizarrely upheld as triumphs

  • otherwise extremely intelligent people just turning the crank because it’s the only way to get ahead

  • the plight of the working class is discussed mainly by people who do no work

  • the United States as a whole is depicted as evil by default

  • the currency most people are talking about is fake and worthless

  • the economy is centrally planned, using opaque algorithms not fully understood by their users
