My list is fairly simple:
A budget that doesn’t add to national debt.
Deal with (illegal) immigration. Don’t care how it’s dealt with per se.
God do I miss fiscal conservatism.
What do you see as the viable options to deal with illegal immigration? Massive crackdowns? Wall? Etc?
Hey @pfury . If Shults runs, I’m strongly considering door knocking for him. Even if he runs as a Dem. This from the resident looney toon ancap. I want an adult who won’t screw up the economy and will mostly leave me alone. Preferably someone who doesn’t post 3am idiot tweets or ban all firearms.
Doesn’t matter much in PA though, the SCoPA regerrymandered the state to make sure it never goes red again. A Dem candidate might not even need a ground game here.

E-verify with punishments for EMPLOYERS who hire illegals. Couple this with absolutely zero benefits for illegals (they get some now). No slave wage jobs and no free stuff illegals deport themselves.
Also find a legal way to end anchor babies and chain migration.
People respond to incentives after all.
Also, legalize all drugs and sell them at legit stores. Take the cartel cash away.

I think the first step is realize that near 50% people won’t like whatever the outcome is.
It’s a fairly complex issue, because while I’d love to say that illegal immigrants are 100% wrong and should return to their country, the US has a responsibility because we’ve continued to allow it. I have no issue with legal immigration, at all. Nor do I fully understand the process for becoming a citizen. If it’s far too cumbersome and we need immigrants (I believe we do) then easing up on the process.
This isn’t a bad start.
This is getting into “Litmus Test” territory, @pfury…and this is not how I will be casting my 2024 Presidential Vote (and perhaps in the future).
Again…others can make their decisions how they wish. Mine will be based far less on some list of “Policy Positions” someone post on a Website, as opposed to their overall view and direction they set for the Nation.

There was a guy who sent mailers for state rep in our district. It was a postcard with a picture of a man of Indian descent with his family. His 6 kids and pregnant wife on the postcard.
My first thought was “how does this dude afford SEVEN kids?! He must be a genius.”
So when the man himself showed up a few weeks later door knocking my wife asked him that very question. He’s a lawyer, kind of anticlimactic there.
He got my vote, if only to get him out of the house and away from his brood to take trips to Harrisburg. Seven kids! Leave that poor woman alone! Haha.
