Lol. Keep telling yourself that. I’ll be over here in the real world where the only dad’s truly offended at Mom’s being allowed into the dance are le ultimate bitch
Decisions made by bureaucrats at public schools is not market forces.
Right. Because they’re arbitrarily making these choices based on a coin flip.
Not due to public response at all. Not even a lot
It’s probably on netflix. The one starring Jet li and Michelle Yeoh.
We’re basically talking about the concepts of cosmological duality in Taoism.
Is this the same thing as qi? I’m not familiar with the Indian version of this. I wouldn’t take this stuff too seriously, though. It’s widely ridiculed and parodied in Asia today just like Western religions in the West. It’s also the reason why I ended up paying thousands of dollars for a fengshui mastrr during the Chinese New Year because of my wife and parents.
You’re really going to act like bureaucrats make decisions based on what the public wants, lol.
The MD senate (majority democrats) just overturned Governor Hogan ( R ) executive order to start schools after labor (a silly issues at best) and the vote was along party line, shocker…
About 70% of the public wants schools to start after labor day, but mah market forces.
In a situation with nothing to gain if there isn’t public response?
Fwiw, my mom has worked in the daycare/school industry my entire life. I was being sarcastic about the public response thing. Father daughter dance have been taking shots your entire life, whether or not you care/know.
But yeah. Dad’s are under assault. God forbid they dance with women around. THE HORROR.
Lol cool story. Happy to see your poling.
I doubt there would be a public response on such a non-issue.
I don’t really care. I posted it because it made me chuckle based on our conversation yesterday.

I don’t think you understand how market forces work.
Minority rule and government intervention are not market forces, lol. Market forces require majority action. You know, Blockbuster no longer in business due to Redbox. Redbox struggling because Netflix. Netflix competing with Hulu, Amazon, etc. that’s the market.
Not, Blockbuster out of business because they only had 1 copy of the new Ghostbusters, while they had 12 copies of the original.
Maybe … but on the flip side the girls WITH fathers are also being left out of a father/daughter dance, and boys with either or both parents can’t participate … I also am unsure if girls w/o fathers can still show up and dance with their friends’ dads … all in all I’m failing to see the justice in this as it is
also, it’s unclear if what USMC posted was a school sponsored event or not … yours clearly was…it’s an assumption we both made
Ya, government action =/= market forces. Hell, sometimes government action against market forces or public opinion is a good thing.
Are they not allowed to attend the family dances that replaced the father daughter dance? What’re they being left out of? Wot?
Fair point. I’m definitely assuming the father daughter dance is school related. I’ve never seen one otherwise.
Fuck if I know, I try not to actually read drivel. I just saw the headline, chuckled, and came here to stir the pot, lol.
The plot thickens. It was a “community” dance:
So, it’s a classic example of butt-hurt the world revolves around me feelings.
Why do they have to be replaced? Why can’t a competing event be put on?
A father/daughter dance
If this mom has an issue with the father/daughter dance, I’d assume she wants it abolished or replaced with something more “inclusive” … now this event that the daughter and father presumably looked forward to no longer exists and is replaced with something that has different dynamics and connotations.
It’s the destruction of a tradition some people enjoyed … instead of someone who felt left out or excluded beginning their own competing or independent event, they have to destroy (presumably) the existing event/tradition for the sake of it being exclusionary.
General question: is it a goal to ensure that everyone is included 100% of the time? Can we just be fine sitting something out so it’s special for a group? @pfury
That certainly seems to be the end goal for everything from innocuous father-daughter dances to women in combat.
Schools have budgets? That are already massively inflated?
How does the Dynamic between father and daughter change if a mom is across the way?
Let em kick out the mom then imo. Let society figure it out
I’m perfectly happy to exclude groups if there’s a reason for the exclusion. See question above
Who determines reason? The reason for father/daughter dances is because it’s special for fathers, and daughters want to maintain control of their fathers. It’s 3.5 minutes of a ‘bastards’ (a fitting word that is considered offensive today) childhood.
Which one?
These events sell tickets and generally are cost neutral … PTAs generally cater them…also this wasn’t a school event like we originally thought, but still
You do realize this case is about a mother having an issue with “just being across the way” right?
Society has nothing to do with this . .it’s a community organization not a society at large thing … not everything needs to elevated to the level you seem to be implying here.
Then why are we having this discussion?
Assumably the people running the party
