I guess we’ll see if we ever get there. You can say I told you so for dayyyyssss.
But not the one we deserve.
I can think of plenty of upsides to integrating girls at an earlier age in the boys club. It’s not like the country is going to suffer is 12 year olds don’t talk about fuckin bitches on camping trips.
I should clarify, because you make a valid point. I’m only assigning pussy status to those that get pissy about it. Plenty of people probably don’t think girls should be included, but they know it doesn’t actually matter in the real world so they don’t get upset
This is what I’m getting after. I hate when people do things in the name of _____, but their method is to intentionally undermine something they disagree with.
Coming back to this though:
Why aren’t people outraged that the Girl Scouts forces girls to maintain their 50’s roles?
Upside for the boys? By boys club do you mean like the “mens CEO running the world club?”
because I’m pretty sure boys are falling way behind girls in earnings, degrees, etc…
You’re taking things to the extreme. All it will take is one “boys will be boys” moment and there will be issues. The whole toxic-masculinity thing.
Idk, man. That doesn’t make sense to me. If girls like the old girl scout curriculum and the girl scouts change it, then the girls should have to start their own organization to go back to the old curriculum? At the very least, I assume you can see why those girls would be mad, right?
I would imagine if there was real outrage, the Girl Scouts, which appears to be run by women, would alter their curriculum accordingly. Perhaps there are some people who don’t believe the traditional roles of women are/were necessarily harmful.
The upside for boys is they get to hear girls viewpoints in scout?
Probably because “masculinity” is not deemed appropriate in 2019 and boys just lost their only males only space. I feel like we’ve come full circle, lol…
Scouts in the West are really different. The teacher in charge of our scout troop was a woman. A real nasty woman(lol) who made a few of us stand at the parade square overnight during a camp at our school because we sneaked over to one of the girl guides tent. The troop leader was a chain smoker who just shrugged and laughed at us and offered us cigarettes while we were standing there like idiots lol.
You said, “I can think of plenty of upsides to integrating girls at an earlier age in the boys club.” My response was that assuming you mean the proverbial men running the world club, women are already earning more degrees and in many categories actually make more money. So, why would integrate them into the “boys club” matter? Women, younger women, in particular, are doing better than their counterparts already.
I think young women are doing better in college and are earning more because our current workforce is better suited to women than men, generally.
Maybe, but that’s not what I’ve been told by family and friends involved locally.
Scouts always seemed pretty nerdy to me but maybe that’s just what the nerdy type kids in my area did? Trying to get badges, rubbing sticks together, sleeping with dudes in the woods with that weird uncle type “volunteer.”
Pretty sure I got out early after whatever the first part is (Cub Scout?)
Granted I’m not a huge outdoors guy. Fishing is boring as shit, tents are way less comfortable than mattresses, and bugs tend not to eat me unless I’m living where they live. I don’t work to achieve middle class status to sleep without the a/c.
