The Stupid Thread 2 (Part 1)

Fixed

Well yeah, probably. But in societies defense 100k a year stipend is purty stoopid

I meant the paradigm where people get whatever they demand as long as 51% of people agree with the demand. Especially so if they hide their demands behind a veil of “basic human rights”.

What about the “basic human rights” of the tax cattle compelled to pay for the “free” stuff? Well screw them apparantly.

Democracy is a bitch

Well, yeah? Duh?

You just described every successful society on the planet. Rich people paying more than poor people and the masses getting help with shit.

I suppose they could try to drum up support to make sure the other side never gets to 51%.

Bro, you’re just a troglodyte.

I have a very combative anti-capitalist friend who went on a vacation in the general-south-of-the-US (not Mexico). When he returned he couldn’t stop talking about how lazy the fucking socialist people were. Lmao!

Which is why we have a republic. Rome was far more successful than Athens.

Those societies only remain successful so long as the vast majority are productive and can actually function. There’s a critical mass of people in the wagon and less pushing the wagon.

Whenever I encounter any who’s very combative anti-anything it tends to follow they have a very poor understanding of the thing they’re against.

My father in law is an ignorant socialist who I always confuse and get him to admit he really hates socialism all the time. If I directly say something positive about free markets or capitalism he gets all ranty, if I present it in a way he can relate to, he fuckin hates state interventionism
I always have a great time at family get togethers

So why are you upset about the 51% exactly? The FFs gave us plenty of levers to use when we need to ignore the people.

If this is the case, you’d think our lovely GOP Congress would stop increasing spending AND decreasing revenues

Sadly, all my relatives are very conservative so I can’t poke donkeys.

Funny thing about this guy, he was raised by a meth addicted mom and ended up with 11 storefronts for his business, which he recently sold two for $1.1MM. Dude is literally the poster boy for American dream and capitalism.

Isn’t that the way it goes, though? Warren Buffet being a good example. Mr. I made billions off the free market, but now I’m gonna cry that my tax rate is so low my $100k+ secretary, excuse me, executive assistant pays more in taxes than me. Okay, Warren.

Meh, exaggeration and hyperbole are mandatory in today’s political climate. Kinda like your last sentence haha.

Shitty that it’s the new norm, but it’s the public’s own fault for encouraging and supporting and forgiving it’s use.

Rights change over time according to society and area you live in. Carlin did a good bit on this. Health care could easily become a right anymore than our other rights came into existence.

The same people who are bound and determine to have every single baby be born typically don’t want health care to be a right. Or to pay for schools. But damnit let’s make those raped women have that kid!

In a country where we don’t put rapists to death and rarely even put murderers to death, how does it make any logical sense to kill a child produced through a rape?

I don’t recall any exaggeration in my post.

Objectively it is a fetus that is being killed. Calling it murder of an unborn child is an exaggeration that puts hyperbolic opinionated spin on it, same as me calling it removal of a parasitic clump of cells.

It’s usually only stupid if you disagree with the slant.

Im not interested in a pro life/choice debate atm

Semantics. It’s a human life being ended because it had the audacity to be conceived.

fetus

noun

fe·tus | \ ˈfē-təs \

Definition of fetus

: an unborn or unhatched vertebrate especially after attaining the basic structural plan of its kind

That’s what Merriam-Webster has to say.

We ended the life of 25 death row inmates in 2018 for murder.

We end the life of 600k+ fetus’ because they’re an inconvenience.

If I didn’t have kids, I’d pray AOC is right about the world ending in 12 years.

Since you’re holidaying in the region, take a trip to Vietnam for a couple of days and you will probably see the same thing.
