No, fake plates.

If I remember correctly, after that vid came out, several powerlifting feds offered him money to come bench and he wouldn’t do it.

People are just too gullible these days. I’ve seen a handful of videos of genuine raw 600 lb bench presses and they didn’t look anything like this charade. They needed a proper handoff (not from a 10 year old boy) and a spotter at each end, the exertion they put in was palpable and the bar was bending like crazy. I think there’s no more than 350 on that bar.
This reminds me of that twat on youtube and his 23 reps with 585 lbs and people posting “dude, that’s amazing, can you give me your bench press routine?”. Idiots!
I just can’t understand the mentality of people who post fake videos.
wow what a dik! no suprise he’s a skinny bastard…

You now whats the biggest problem with that video? There isnt a coach around.
The coach is the spotter on the right, Chad Ikei. He’s surprisingly successful for doing stuff like that. He’s also the strength coach at Chaparral High School in Arizona which has had a very successful football program for years. He’s not clueless, but I don’t really get what he’s doing.
Sweet. Fancy. Moses.
