I’m just being a pain in the ass, I haven’t watched it in years.
I think the last episode I saw was when Vic broke that gangbangers teeth with a bong, and then to avenge being made suck off a bong the gangbanger decides he’s gonna get a gunpoint hummer from the next cop he meets, who happens to be Aceveda. Now THAT was irony.

Looks like I wasn’t all that far off. I can’t believe that show last night. Mackie bangin Cavanaugh’s ex, Lem trying to take the deal, Antoine screwing Mackie, then Cavanaugh trying to get at Mackie’s ex. Crazy, crazy, crazy. Season Finale is gonna be insane next week.
I already can’t wait for Tuesday. I’ve been watching all the seasons over the past two weeks, and while they may not be as rough, they are still bad ass. Shane booting the guy in the face was sweet. And Vic’s line to Cavanaugh made my night.
“There’s 3 things you’re forgetting;
1, I didn’t kill Terry.
2, you’ve lost your leverage with Lem.
And 3, your wife’s pussy, tastes like sweet, sweet butter.”
Bad-ass.

Unfuckingbelievable.
I knew Lem was going to end up on the run.
This is the first time I’ve ever heard Vic say, “I don’t know what we’re going to do”. Intense.

I get that feeling also. I hope Vic shoots the bastard.

I saw vic start banging cav’s ex wife and thought “this is gotto be a trap”
claudette goes from practically dying in one ep to the queen bee two or three later, that’s bizarre.
I think vic’s gonna nail his lawyer, and the new girl.
but the real question is, how’s Lem gonna raise a kid when he’s in prison? we all know the baby is his!
This thread is torture!
I’ve only just finished watching the second series (rented out the 1st and 2nd series dvd’s) and now waiting for the 3rd and 4th to come out in New Zealand. Can’t find them anywhere locally.
Bastards!

Same here. Hopefully Lem doesnt mess up in Mexico and end up in a jail down there…Talk about being a long, ruff time. Did it look like on the preview for next week that Vic slammed Kavanaugh against that car & broke the window?

One can only hope.
Although, that is really a message about how great Forrest Whittaker has been. Everything I see him in now makes me think of Cavenaough, and therefore I hate his character immediately.
My hat is really off to the writers of the show and Whittaker, because its been unbelievable.
I can’t wait for next week.
Gregtron- Move to America. Its worth it for this damn show!
Damn that greencard lottery!

How many seasons have they made so far?
-
Just saw the episode where they shoot Terry on Spike. That dude was a fucking prick and I’m glad it happened.
-
Claudette as chief will be very interesting. She’s like the dose of real-world common sense for the show. She’s not afraid to tell the truth no matter what. She understands the game and the rules for it, and she also understands that those rules need to be bent or even broken at times. The perfect match for Vic. She got to where she is by being a straight shooter, not by worrying about her career.
-
I was watching the reruns on Spike last night with my girlfriend, and we got into an argument about Mackie. I said that I’d like to be a cop like him, because he’s the one that does the work nobody else wants to do. She got all pissed off because of the bad things that he does (shooting Terry, beating up suspects, etc.). “You want to be like that?” she says. My response: In certain environments, in order to be effective at catching the REALLY bad criminals, a cop has to be more like a criminal himself. He has to cross that line in order to understand others that have also crossed it, and so that other criminals will respect his authority, trust him, and ultimately help him. You can see this on the show. Vic and the Strike Team generally solve about 2 cases per episode. The best detectives, Claudette and Dutch, generally solve 1 case every 2 or 3 episodes. In a lot of instances, Vic helps them with their investigations, even beating a confession out of a child molester (with a phonebook) in a rerun I saw last night. Basically, we need cops that are willing to play by the rules of the street in order to get the job done. I’m not sure how this works in real life, but it works fucking great on TV.

I think this is number 5.
I agree. Rats getting shot is not something I care about.
Plus she’s not fond of Vic. Making it very interesting. Especially because she knows how he works.

I think real life is similar to this- not Law and Order.
Ever see Training Day? Same concept. The baddest motherfucker is the guy running everything. That guy better be the cop.
Although, as a hardcore liberal, in real life I hate these kinds of guys. Arrogant, violent, kniving, and merciless- everything a cop shouldn’t be. Abuse of power? Racism? These things are all over with a cop like this.
On the other hand, it gets shit done, plain and simple. You deal with scum who would shoot your family up in a second if they had the chance. When in Rome, act like a Roman.
Not to mention, I’d be more like Mackey than I’d like to think…
When it comes down to it, I can’t tell. But I still root for Vic…just pure badass. Its like rooting against Tony Soprano.
I can never predict what’s going to happen on this show. The writing is top notch, all the way, and never resorts to trite, cliche plot lines that you can see from a mile away like EVERY other cop show on TV.
Vic killing Kavanaugh would be the stupidest thing he could ever do. The entire Strike Team would immediately be put away. remember, Kavanaugh is investigating Vic for KILLING A COP.
As for Spartanpower’s argument with his g/f about Vic, that’s what is so great about this show. Vic is the most complicated character on television, hands down. We see his heart and determination and the good things that he’s done, so we cheer him on. But he is a horrible man. A murderer, a sadist, an egomaniac, a racist- that’s the character, along with all the good things. Think about it- if season five was any normal, Hollywood movie, Kavanaugh would be the hero and Vic would be the villian.
You gotta feel sorry for Lem. The one with the biggest conscience and he just keeps getting screwed.
What’s up with this super short season, by the way? Ten episodes? And when is Aceveda’s rape going to come out into the open? Every episode I feel like that thing is going pop up…
Best show on TV, with Rome being a close second.
I just talked to my dad today. He’s a huge Sopranos fan, so I talked to him about this show, and he called me back ten minutes later after he bought all 4 seasons on DVD. Found 'em online for $37.50 a pop. Now I can finally get caught up, so I’m pumped.
wasn’t it last season where claudette was just the biggest thorn in the side of all time? maybe that was two ago, and she was gonna get the promotion.
I thought that was gonna make it rough on the strike team, now she’s getting the promo and it’s probably a good thing.
what’s gonna happen to lem!?
90 minute season finale tonight…I can’t wait.
This is killing me! The only thing that pisses me off about The Shield is that the seasons are always WAY too short.
No worries, though, tonight’s episode should be on par with the rest. I’m guessing Kavanaugh loses it and Vick ends up getting over on him, but I have no idea what’s going to happen with Lem. It would kind of suck if the season ended with him hiding out in Mexico, and it’s going to suck even more next season without him! I wonder who would replace him? Perhaps they’re going to bring back the Tevon guy from a couple seasons ago? That guy was pretty cool.
Wow.
Didn’t see that coming.
Grenade baby!
Lem was always the innocent one; as if the bleeding ulcer was not enough.
