I just wanna brag about my son! THAT says more about me than anything else.

;)
Actually… it says the exact same thing

And thinking that bragging about your son makes you better or in any way different than the other braggers… says yet again the same exact thing

Pro-Tip Bubba: Your offspring, amongst many other things which aren’t the actual self, and any consequent bragging about them is just a societal extension of the self

But hey… I’m getting called a retard by the white Texan with the sleeve tattoos and sleveless shirts. Cool!
hahahahahahahaahahahahaha

You have no clue do you.

You got to be a childless young adult (probably virgin)

You got to be 120 pounds

And have serious social issues dont you?
Sure, GED bubba.
Oh my poor little brotard you are so clueless.

So when you are beating off to Swedish donkey porn do you lust for men or women?

Does it really make you cut yourself when successful people better than you accomplish more than you ever have or will?

‘lol exactly’?

Look bubba; having a kid doesn’t turn you into some selfless chalice of love. Bragging IS bragging. Be it about yourself, your kid, your football team, your mother or your wife.

Not only that, but here you’re veiling your brags with some hamfisted selfless ‘I am a better man, I brag about my kids whom I love!’ affectation which is absolutely pathetic and obnoxious.

But hey, why bother arguing this? Not only did OP aka the licensed psychologist already say this, but the 3 guys crying are the three middle aged guys with kids who can’t look from the outside in.
They do say mules only get even dumber and more stubborn with time.
LOL gold baby…pure gold.

Just when I though you were gonna keep your idiocracy to the BB forum, you just waddle it over here.

But that was in Phoenix right? I will be up in the mountains north of Tucson, so only 105 during the day and 50 at night.

I get to be there the whole week though not a day trip.

No heat stresses?

The staff I have to train and the PA this week I have to make sure they are up to date on heat stress treatment, especially going into the summer. Talking to the safety guy week before last, they have some issues at this site. GF’s and supervisors during tailgate meeting spoke only of production, nothing about safety and health.
GorillaMon wrote:

I am merely amused that people tend to infer from a lack of bragging that I OR other people are modest! As opposed to ‘quietly arrogant’ OR more intrisically motivated Vs extrinsically motivated.
So, just because you aren’t talking about how fabulous you are, doesn’t mean you aren’t thinking it! LOL! Good to know. I guess we also tend to assume that bragging is a sign of arrogance, when it could be insecurity. Very different motivation.

I’d assume that if talking about yourself is biologically linked to very primitive and basic drives like food and sex, then it performs an essential function. Maybe it just shows how important social connections are, both for our happiness but also for survival.

Oh, and Hi Edgy!

And Derek, stop following me around the gym with a camera. I was here to brag about my bench press, not about my acrobatic moves on the assisted pullup machine.

Did I mention that my kids are average? HA! Nobody ever says that, right?

Your photogenic so I have no choice Puff

^

To clarify, the study just mentions that talking about ourselves lights up these same reward centers. It doesn’t specify if it’s negative or positive self-disclosure.

Just some thoughts here. Some people tend to talk much more positively in general. Rose Colored Glasses. Their speech is going to sound more like this:

 • I feel great.
 • I love my spouse/kids.
 • I feel grateful for…
 • I’m blessed to have …

Is that low-grade bragging? Would you rather hear bragging or whining?

People have a need to unload negative stuff sometimes, and they will pay good money to do so. Job security for psychologists. WHOOT!

For myself, I can’t say I’ve ever felt a lot better after venting negative emotions. In fact, it often makes me feel worse. There’s stuff in my life that isn’t great, but I’m a lot happier if I don’t focus on it. I’m almost always sorry if I give in and complain about something. Everybody copes with these things differently.

And for people who are on the far side of the introvert scale and don’t talk much at all - I’d suspect there’s a biological difference.
