The Return of Even More Movies You've Watched This Week III

Holy shit yay !! I hope they make one every few months lol

There were rules the first time? What were they, “no gum chewing, no socks with sandals, and no eating after midnight?”

The trailer looks like a huge disappointment. Hard to believe Taylor Sheridan wrote something that cliched.

Has anyone seen the trailer for “Dundee”?

Lol, for me, Sicario has already ended. Emily Blunt’s story arc was concluded and the audience had overstayed their welcome. They shut the door to what had become the “Land of Wolves” on us through her. It was perfect. We were never meant to see what transpired after that. A sequel does not make any sense at all.

But Benicio’s character is too badass to not have his own movie where he does a Liam Neeson, so I’m just going to pretend it’s that.

I don’t know if badass is the word I would use, but he’s certainly interesting.

I read the Wikipedia synopsis, and they described it as “a standalone spin-off, rather than a sequel.” They’re probably just calling it Sicario 2 so people know it’s related.

I guess I will reserve judgment until I see it. Sheridan is a solid fucking writer, so it’s possible the trailer is just an inaccurate representation of the whole.

Hell or High Water was really good.

How was Wind River?

Possible Spoiler:

I heard that it was some kind of teaser, leading into a surprise fake-out super bowl commercial for Australian tourism.

Hopefully this is a false rumor, and the movie is real, because I’d love to watch that movie.

Ha, that would still be funny. It looks so dumb that it could be hilarious.

“Why do you keep saying really? Stop that.”

I’ll see anything with Nathalie Portman.

Mmmm that thong scene.

Awesome. Better than Hell or High Water, arguably as good as Sicario.

“WHY ARE YOU FLANKING ME?!!”

Holy shit that set-up for the scenes that followed was GENIUS.

Wind River 2017

After watching this, I’m willing to bet a lot of money that Taylor Sheridan played a bigger role in the filming of Sicario than what has been revealed. I’m also even more convinced that Denis Villaneuva is a pretentious hack.

Anyway, I missed this because I didn’t know it existed without looking up Taylor Sheridan’s filmography. Probably due to a lack of marketing. This is an excellent movie and definitely worth a watch.

I’ll echo the sentiment on Wind River. It’s a powerful fucking movie; the themes of loss and grieving will hit you particularly hard if you’ve ever lost someone really close to you, especially a child.

The action is set up very similarly to Sicario. Lots of tension accumulates, then he (Sheridan) lets off the gas and coasts a little, but in the back of your mind you still know something bad is going to happen. Then, suddenly, everything explodes.

This is also one of those rare movies that gets better with repeat viewings.

The Greatest Showman

There’s a scene where Wolverine asks Zac Effron, a disgruntled playwright for the Upper Class and darling of pompous critics, what he does.

Zac replies, “I sell virtue”.

BOOM!

Trust the audience. It’s a pretty good film.

Better or worse than “The Prestige”?
