The Gift - Really fucking good; if you liked Gone Girl, you’ll like this. 8.5/10
Trainwreck - Extremely funny in some places; but, like a typical Apatow movie, I was ready for it to end about 30 min before it did. A few of the comedic scenes just didn’t land with me either, “the intervention scene” in particular. 6/10
I saw the new Terminator. It wasn’t THAT bad. They just got real screwy with the timeline-based plot and choice of directions to go with certain characters.
The action scenes were good (good cgi). Arnold was solid and had some really funny parts. They had some good nolstagic scenes that were straight out of previous movies.
It wasn’t special bt I liked it.
More recently I saw Kingsmen. We had just watched Cap America 2 (which is awesome), then went for a drink run between the movies and started Kingsmen at like 1 in the morning or so, so I was falling asleep on it by the end (by no fault of the movie). From what I remember it was pretty solid.
I really, really liked this movie. Well paced, didn’t feel like a 2 hour long trailer. The stunts were great, chases were great.
I feel like the director actually showed some restraint and realized that not every action scene needs to look like a Michael Bay film.
Plus I have a new celebrity crush, Rebecca Ferguson. Love her looks, love her body. She actually looks like she’s seen the inside of a weight room. She has traps, and shoulders, and some great thighs like a dancer’s.
If you’re into psychological thrillers, you’ll probably like it.
I started seeing where they were going with it early on with the guy from Arrested Development. I didn’t realize how far they were going to go with it by the end, though.
Solid movie, but nothing to write home about, in my opinion.
The girl I was out with really wanted to see it and I didn’t see anything else on the list that compelled me to be against her choice.

Watched Meru at a little artsy theater last week and it was a truly entertaining, mesmerizing and educational documentary film.
It’s the story of mountaineer Conrad Anker and his buds climbing the most difficult mountain, Meru, in the world (it’s in northern India).
No actors, no acting, just the real live dudes who did it. The cinematography is stupendous.
Blew me away. Studliness at its finest.

Although tragic, you might like “The Summit.” It’s a documentary about how 11 experienced climbers died on K2 in a single day.
A terrific exercise in slowburn tension that I thought only the HK maestro Johnny To was capable of creating. Del Toro is fucking brilliant. I could rave all day about the amazing soundtrack…

Watch it![/quote]
I was all set to see it this weekend, then realized that the release date was only in select locations. I hate that.
Not bad. Some clever dialogue. I’m seriously contemplating if it would have sucked if not for Matt Damon’s performance. Hearing the David Bowie song in the middle of the film was nice. I love David Bowie.
