The Return of Even More Movies You've Watched This Week III

EXACTLY. It’s why I want to see what Edward Norton did to the script with the additional 15mins and a cut with less action scenes thrown in post-filming. What was engaging was Banner’s story - how he was trying to control his heartrate, find a cure, navigate society, longing to, and almost reconnecting and eventually having to reject people close to him and all that stuff. That’s why I liked the first half of the movie.

Hell, I even read there was an attempted suicide scene at the start that was cut out. That was probably why Banner says, “I put a bullet in my mouth. The other guy spat it out” in the first Avengers movie.

There was some actual good writing here, unlike that shitty Lee Ang version.

I think a Hulk suicide story could probably be about the only thing worthwhile to do with the character. Make him similar to One-punch man: he’s just so bored with being so overpowered that he’s going around the world seeking SOMETHING that can finally kill him. THEN you have some sort of suspense: did he finally find his end? Have him squaring off with Galactus and Cyttorak and the whole Pantheon of Gods.

I have no idea who all these other characters you’ve brought up are lol. Never read any of the comics BUT I still find the Hulk boring. I guess that says a lot about the character. All I know is he got KO-ed by Thanos in a fist fight and he’d probably lose to Thor after Ragnarok. Not sure if it’s because Thanos already had 1 or 2 Infinity Stones at that time.

I think, if we go by the movies, Superman alone from the Justice League movie can rip him to shreds. What’s the point of Superman? He’s faster than The Flash and just manhandles the main villain so easily they had to pull him away from the action to go save a bunch of unknown people so the others could get beaten up. They don’t need anyone else.

Ok, I think this concept was taken from a HK novel character called du gu qiu bai(loosely translated as “lonely and pleading for defeat” by Louis Cha. He’s basically a master swordsman doing the same thing from what I remember from a TV series made about him.

Oh yeah, it’s absolutely not original: that’s just a recognizable form of it. I saw a similar premise in a samurai novel when I was in 7th grade.

Was it ever made into a movie? I’d like to watch it. I was actually thinking about either rewatching the Zatoichi movies or some old Japanese mafia movies.

No idea. It wasn’t the central premise of the novel: just a character encountered in it. A ronin that was essentially attempting suicide by duel.

The movie is one thing, but I think Ed Norton is the best Hulk there’s ever been.

Few movies:
The Informer with Joel Kinnaman. I really like JK as an actor - one of the many movies I review on here that isn’t going to win any awards, but is very entertaining, and has some great performances. 6.5/10.

Raya and the Last Dragon: New Disney Movie. Paid $30 for access to it on a whim, knowing full well that it’ll be free eventually - just wanted a nice movie to watch with the whole family, and it was worth it. Not a Disney musical - I have no problems wth classic Disney Musicals, as Aladdin is one of my favorite movies, a solid storyline, good voice acting, good animation. I won’t say the storyline isn’t cheesy, you’re watching a Disney movie. I’d say 7.5/10.

Boss Level - Frank Grillo stars in a movie badly ripped off of Edge of Tomorrow. He does a surprisingly good job, the movie has a quirkier, more retro feel to it, it’s definitely watchable, but it’s attempting to be more than it is - there’s so much sentiment packed into the murderporn that the movie comes off as not trying to accept itself for what it is. Still, I enjoyed it. 6/10.

I agree. But I also think he didn’t fit into the MCU because we’d then have had 3 Tony Starks once they introduced Dr Strange lol. Mark Ruffalo’s portrayal of the character complimented the ensemble better as a whole.

Same here. He should get better roles. The movie wasn’t bad, just umm… unmemorable? I seriously can’t really remember what the plot was right now that you brought it up. The dude was an undercover ex-con turned informant or something who fucked something up and then had to go undercover again and fucked the guys who made him go undercover up? Was it something like that?

Last night I watched War Dogs. I thought the acting was good. The timeframe changes a few times during the movie which threw me off. I also enjoyed the soundtrack on movie. 7.5/10.

I can’t remember if I did a review of Deliverance (I know I mentioned it in a PWI thread). I was told I should watch this movie because of the fiddle playing. I was thinking this movie would be a tame 70s adventure movie. It was gritty, and uncomfortable (gay rape scenes). It also has some gore which I don’t handle well (especially if it is bone out of skin). I did enjoy this movie though. I am a fan of the adventure genre, and of movies with good nature scenery. I’ll give this one 7.8/10.

Deliverance to this day, blows most horror movies out of the water.

A genuinely scary move that fucks you up

Poor Ned Beatty lol.

It was a femur bone IIRC. I don’t think even many hardened gorehounds can handle that well either.

Coincidently, I watched 15mins of the Wrong Turn remake last night but some medication I took prior to that knocked me out. It looked like it was heading in the direction of Deliverance in a modern day context. I’m gonna continue watching it later if I have the time.

This remake seems to be more high budget and less campy and “B” grade than the original and it’s sequels. But they turned Rio Bravo into a gore movie with cannibals with the guy who played Pinhead in Hellraiser as the main villain in one of the sequels to the original so who knows lol?

Yep it was. I don’t handle gore well at all. Movie was solid though. Not predictable, which is huge for me.

I liked his deputy. It’s a pity he had to split.

I don’t know man, I think he got too much screen time … they could’ve cut his role in half and I wouldn’t have noticed

That movie was fantastic. I had no idea what I was getting into with it. Action, thrills, and a surprising amount of comedy? The dry dialogue had me laughing out loud in some parts.
