I don’t care what other’s say; you looked great in the bikini.
Been rewatching the X Files on Hulu… finished season 5 . Never occurred to me when it originally aired how insane it is that Scully can still be a hardcore skeptic. Not after all the shit shes seen and experienced.
Yeah, I kinda get where they’re coming from since I’ve produced certain media myself, though it’s not my main line of work. They need to get people whom they can trust are able to make something that looks cinematic and they can assemble the rest themselves. Some directors in the post have blown over $100 million on their movies and the results looked like TV productions. The general idea is that they can easily employ a good script writer or refurbish one of the existing scripts they already have to fit the outline of story, at least from my experience.
Of course, this really lowers the quality of cinema since the final product becomes something the studios pieced together with the least risk in mind. Fuck, they made the company that did the Suicide Squad trailers to re-edit the entire movie. But then they reportedly gave the director of the Blade Runner sequel full creative freedom and it was a pile of crap IMO and it failed commercially as well.
That being said, even lots of the low budget stuff follow a similar process. Look at all the Conjuring spin-offs lol. They were all obviously refurbished scripts which had nothing to do with The Conjuring when they were written, and half of the jump scares looked like they were written in just so they could be included in the trailers.
Trailer editing has become an art form in itself nowadays. They should introduce it as a new category in the Oscars.
This one really deserves an award.
I have never enjoyed reading a review this much in my life! Thank you, sir!
Much appreciated. Thanks!
One of the makers of that short movie told me that whenever I see in a movie a jarring change of tone or pace, a non sequitur interlude or an out-of-character action that doesn’t advance the plot that it’s simply a remnant from the earlier versions of the script which often had a different plot and characters.
Now I cannot stop noticing this in triple A movies.
Watched the 1st episode and half of the 2nd episode of Lucifer season 5. It was pretty underwhelming but I’ll give it a chance.
Lucifer went back to hell in the last season to prevent the demons from revolting and trying to take over earth. He’s been gone for 2 months but time passes differently there. In this series’s logic, a couple of months on earth is a few thousand years in hell. I always thought it was the opposite but that’s a Chinese belief.
So, naturally, Chloe is still getting over him. Then he comes back(actually it’s his twin brother Michael) and she starts blubbering," You’re different!" and Lucifer is like, “I’ve LITERALLY just spent thousands of years in hell get off my back bitch!!!” and she’s like, “Oh yeah, but what about MY feelings?!!!”
Typical woman.
No, no it didn’t go down like that but it should have. Would have been much funnier.
First episode was painful, nary an irreverence to be found.
Second episode got better. (taking a break before the 3rd) But I hope they realize the foundation of this show is still the irreverent punch lines that Lucifer delivers. e.g. “Trixie? -isn’t that a hooker name?” to a child is still in my top 10…
Spoiler (kind of) alert:
Nah, Lucifer lied right from the get go, and never lying was one of his “quirks” that made him so lovable/funny, so the writers did stay true to the narrative there. And the reaction you wanted was kind of exactly how Maze reacted lol.
I thought Maze wanted to go back to hell?
I was expecting Chloe to do that weepy, passive aggressive goody-two-shoes high school girl thing while all her chick friends start doing the talking for her.
“You’re a real dick! She’s been upset for for 2 months!”
“I’ve been stuck in HELL for the last couple of thousand years!”
“That’s no excuse for being a dick!!!”
Ok, auspicious start to 3rd episode. Snarky.
Maze just felt abandoned by Lucifer, nobody wants to watch over hell, it’s a shit job.
Chloe’s looking adorable this season. I think it’s the new haircut.
you guysss
So I watched episode 3 and Chloe really DID do the weepy passive aggressive schoolgirl thing lololololol. And it happened even better than I thought it would.
“Boo hoo I’ve never had free will! even though I was living my life perfectly normally until I was told I didn’t have free will!”
“Oh boo fucking hoo! I just found out Michael the fucking Archangel’s been mindfucking me for millenia, inciting me to do little stuff like you know like… making humans commit Original Sin in the Garden of Eden to the goddamn WAR IN HEAVEN and being banished to Hell and now I can’t fucking leave because the demons will take over earth!”
“I need my space! Boo hoo!”
I Am Fear (2020)
Reporter chick gets kidnapped by terrorist splinter cell and awaits public execution in a holding cell to be broadcast live via youtube or something. Supernatural shit starts happening.
I watched this solely because of the movie’s tagline:
“They wish to show the world the true face of terror, but how can they, when even they have not seen it yet?”
Tell me this isn’t the most awesome tagline you’ve ever seen for a supernatural horror movie about terrorists? It’s probably the only horror movie about terrorists ever made but my point still stands so shut up. Yes, I’ve watched Under The Shadow but that’s doesn’t count. Neither does Collateral Damage.
Seriously, I’m on the fence here.
I fell asleep after around 30mins. The editing was pretty disjointed so I couldn’t follow the plot but maybe it’s because I was just really tired. This isn’t 6 Underground. I still have no idea what 6 Underground was about. It could have been the only other horror movie about terrorists ever made for all I know.
The thing about this movie is that there are some really impressive scenes in terms of writing, directing and acting when it’s not jumping all over the place with the timeline.
I’m not really keen on investing another hour of my time just to find out if this movie is good or bad.
So, if anyone decides to watch this, please let me know if it’s worth it watching the rest of it lol. It’s got a cool tagline.
Yeah… I was pretty underwhelmed myself. Not exactly sure what I expected. Ok …that is not accurate I wanted them getting away from the detective stuff and going really deeper into the supernatural stuff.
The first 2 episodes sucked. They get back on track in episode 3.
I’ll take your word on it. I’ll watch some more.
Possum (2018) Horror
One of the scariest I’ve seen in a while.
Crazy dude has a weird spider puppet that he can’t get rid of.
Psycho abusive uncle side-plot.
Saw they had Highlander 2 on Amazon.
Found myself in the fetal position on the floor. All caused by flash backs from previously viewing it.
Trust me. I have the attention span of a 12 year old nowadays lol.
There’s a great soy joke in ep 3.
