Lucifer Season 5 release date is August 21.
Thank God!
Anybody ever seen Inherit the Viper? Just read a VICE article about it and it sounds interesting.
Watched The Rite. That exorcism movie with Anthony Hopkins that nobody watched. I guess my standards for horror movies have dropped considerably as I enjoyed it quite a bit. I mean, as a movie about a priest finding his faith, it’s not bad. The production quality is pretty good. They took time to set up mood and atmosphere. There were few jump scares. The story is just all over the place and doesn’t add up, which results in a movie of this kind not being scary, which sucks when it’s a bloody horror movie. The acting by Anthony Hopkins is fantastic as usual. Alice Braga is adorable. ADORABLE.
6/10
For people with higher standards, watch this instead:
By “higher standards” I also mean “able to find the humor in the attempted transference of the soul of a demon into a pig played with deadpan seriousness”.
Was expecting the worst based on the trailer, but it’s a solid 6/10. If you’re an Eurovision fan it’s an 8. The ensemble European cast is a nice touch, including Kassandra from AC Odyssey.
Been watching the show Hannibal on Netflix…really good. Great acting, pacing, well written, highly recommend.
One of my favorite series to date. I feel like Mads Mikkelsen was the perfect choice for Dr. Lecter.
Mads Mikkelsen is the perfect choice for every character.
The Last Exorcism
Starts out lighthearted and actually pretty funny at times. A charlatan pastor shows a documentary crew how he fools his congregation by performing small “miracles” with little tricks, gadgets and psychological manipulation. He also conducts fake exorcisms for a fee the same way. He’s doing all this because his church’s numbers are dwindling and he needs the money. This will, however, be his last exorcism. Lol.
Then shit gets real after the first 30mins and it becomes unintentionally funny and BORING. It’s a real pity as this movie could have worked with a better filmmakers.
Charalatan pastor travels to buttfuck nowhere with documentary crew. Teenage girl living with her father and weird brother acts like she’s possessed. Lost her mother 6 months ago to cancer. Daddy turned Christian fundamentalist after Mommy’s death and may or may not have been abusing her. Is she really possessed or suffering from mental illness? Charlatan pastor suspects the latter after an elaborate “exorcism” with a novel smoking cross(lol) prop and tries to get her to the hospital for psychiatric evaluation but Daddy brings out the shotgun. Then it turns out the demonic shit is real and the charlatan pastor suddenly finds his faith and is about to pull a Father Karras when…
How do you make shit like this BORING? HOW?
5.5/10
Kingdom of Heaven (2004)
I watched the director’s cut, which I read was a hell of a lot better than the theatrical version with 45mins of restored footage. It was still CRAP. The only thing good about it was the soundtrack. Lord of the Rings had a running time of over 10 hours. In those 10+ hours, not one person responsible for this movie figured out that Orlando Bloom can’t fucking act?
What’s the big deal big about Ridley Scott? For every good film he makes, he craps out 5 or more shitty ones, and his good films(with the exception of Blade Runner) aren’t even great to begin with. This is the man who made Robin Hood with Russell Crowe for fuck’s sake.
4/10
I started watching this after the UFC on Saturday. Fell asleep within 10 minutes, but in fairness I was pretty drunk.
It seemed like it was going to be ok, not great. I still have no idea WTF is going on after the first 10 min.
(The Old Guard)
Because I am a Charlize Theron fan, and I thought she was great, I liked it. She made the movie. Chiwetel Ejiofor, who I’ve liked since the movie Serenity (the Firefly browncoats), was also in it, but underutilized imo. The fight scenes were pretty good, had some of that current John Wick flavor that’s in style now.
Story line had lots of “holes”, but we’re talking “immortals” here, so to be expected.
The ending (no spoiler) gave a heavy hint of a sequel, one which I would most definitely watch; and if Charlize is in it again, imo will be even “better”…
I couldn’t make it past the part Charlize and the new chick were fighting on the airplane. Does it get better after that?
If I were not a Charlize fan, I would not have liked it. But I’m shallow when it comes to movies…(fully planning to watch Mulan heh).
Yeah, I found the new chick very annoying initially, but she gets better.
Watch the end scene, google, -I’m personally very optimistic about a future sequel if Charlize is in it.
(add: also wasn’t a fan of the “social” overtones, but compared to what’s going on these days, I just shrugged it off and focused on the important things lol)
That’s some strong feelings for a film…
Don’t sell yourself short, you’re shallow when it comes to everything
I’ve loved Charlize ever since I watched this:
I don’t think I’ve ever seen her act cuter in any other film. The movie’s like a 5/10 but it’s entertaining enough to sit through without much expectations.
I don’t get your infatuation with the Mulan chick lol. Maybe it’s because I like the slutty types when it comes to Chinese chicks.

I’ve had a lifelong hard-on for this chick.
Likewise. Although I’d argue that she looked her best in the Italian Job.
Older Charlize has that slightly intimidating vibe that’s not necessarily unattractive.
