I may be wrong, but from what I understand Cuba has de-emphasized sugar production – mostly because it cannot compete with neighboring countries who are utilizing better technology.
There will always be a market for Cuban cigars though.
As soon as Castro kicks the bucket, perhaps the market will open up for U.S. investment and we’ll see what that economy can do.
