I feel the need to write to you, honestly seeking opinions and insight, but mainly to vent at the insanity I have just witnessed!
A few days ago, my girlfriend gave me a book she had ordered me a while back, that had finally come in. The book is about Fidel Castro, the well known atrocities he has forced upon his own country, and the link between him and the Hollywood Left. The book is great and I finished it in about 2 days. It did however shed a lot of light on specifics about “La Revolucion” and Castro and his cronies, I didn’t know.
Obviously, being Cuban and having had family members participate and die fighting communism in Cuba, I’ve heard my share of stories. Don’t get me wrong, I love hearing about my family’s homeland, and about all the struggles they endured to finally have freedom. As most if not all (we’ll get to that later) people should know, Fidel Castro achieved absolute power in Cuba through nothing short of corruption, torture, murder, and lies, after lies, after lies…
This leads me to my main point (my reason for writing). I happened to be stumbling around the web this afternoon, and what do I find you ask??? A website completely dedicated to Socialism, Communism, Che Guevara, Fidel Castro, and god knows what other monsters of our time. After looking around for a couple of minutes, I decided to go into the forum area. I did all I could to avoid throwing up in my cubicle at work after seeing some of the things people had written.
“Viva el Che!!!” “One of the greatest, wisest, men of this century!” “Socialism first must be learned in the heart, and then spread to do good for the people.”
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!!!
Honestly folks, to think that there are still people (4000 members according to one site) that suck this garbage up like a sponge, is almost sickening. The worst thing about it, and the reason I believe so many Cubans get SO angry and outraged when they hear this sort of thing, is the fact that the people spread this shit without the slightest idea about what the hell their talking about! These people have done absolutely NO research or reading on the subject, yet think themselves authorities.
The optimist that I am, I actually believe that these lost souls are trully blinded or even brainwashed, and don’t know any better…If they did, then it’s scary to think that there are that many people who support mass genocide, torture of political prisoners (prisoners of conscious), and who openly praise cold-blookded killers such as these men.
Like I said, I’m sure they just don’t know any better…That “I’m definitely cool because I’m wearing a trendy Che Guevara T-shirt” guy walks down the street, I’m sure, oblivious to the fact that the “revolutionary hero” he so proudly displays on his chest, was Fidel Castro’s top enforcer in the early years, murdering thousands of “enemies of the state.” In fact, I’m sure he has no idea, that the Castro regime has encarecerated more of a percentage of their population than the prewar Nazi’s!!! Most of the world doesn’t know the atrocities that communist cubans enflicted on their own people over the last 40+ years. Castro even sent torture specialists to train and “advise” the North Vietnamese on interrogation tactics of AMERICAN POW’s in Vietnam.
Maybe our old Che-fan-club president never found out that Che himself NEVER fought in ANY of the “battles” of the inital revolution. Shit, even Castro himself got rid of the guy, sending him away on missions whenevr he had the chance. he was proven to be one of the most incompetent militray “leaders” of this century. Infact, those “battles” of the inital revolution, that brought Castro fame throughtout the island, were now shown as really small skirmishes, totally 182 deaths (total) instead of the thousands upon thousands that the liberal media like the “New York Times” was reporting. Che was so couragious, that his last words were: “Please don’t shoot me, I’m begging you…I’m Che Guevara, I’m worth more to you alive!”
Now, you may ask where I got such information? I happen to have met (several times actually) the famed CIA agent that was the last American man to see “El Che” alive. he has recounted to me the story of when Che was captured in the jungles in Bolivia. he said he was there, when Che was killed, and supports the claim that he was more coward then “Leader.” This is your “revolutionary hero.”
Socialism, in the hands of a tyrant like Castro, has turned a once prosperous nation, who standard of living was 11th highest, not in the region, but the world, into an impoverished nation where suicide is the leading cause of death among people 18-35, and where Haitians won’t even go!!! A joke right? I’m afraid not… Here’s a statistic I found interesting: The following are the food allowances given to black Cuban slaves in 1848 (per day keep in mind)
-Meat = 8 oz.
-Rice = 4 oz.
-Beans = 6 oz.
Here are the same numbers straight off the ration card on our friendly neighborhood dictator:
-Meat = 4 oz.
-Rice = 2 oz.
-Beans = 1 oz
Now, this leads me to believe that Fidel Castro, and his Revolution, grand in all its glory, feeds it’s own people LESS than slaves got more than a century before!!! This should tell you something people, honstly… All this while the hollywood Left and all these other rich, liberal assholes sing praises and shower him with titles like, a “Humanitarian who has only done good for his people.”
This is according to people like Danny Glover, Susan Surandon, Sean Penn, etc…These people obviously have no concept of reality! Its easy to sit back in your mansion in Beverley Hills, or wherever these commie S.O.B’s live, and say that communism is the way to go, and that Fidel is only wanting to do good…Steven Spielberg said that meeting Fidel Castro was: “the eight most important hours of my life.” Wow, Mr. Spielberg, this coming from a man who made himself a billionaire off of movies like Schindler’s List. Doesn’t make sense to me, really deosn’t.
Why would thousands upon thousands of people risk their and their families lives by jumping into the Gulf of Mexico? (estimated 75,000+ victims have perished in the Gulf) If Cuba is so great, why have these poeple been fleeing for 4 decades? I don’t know about you, but I’ve never seen Danny Glover or Sean Penn (both in speedo’s I’m sure) step off South Beach headed for a swim across shark infested waters to reach the “Paradise” that is Cuba. I’d love to see how quick all these liberals would change their tune if they had to live 1 day like the average Cuban citizen.
I love the fact that all the liberal activists storm campuses across the country screaming about Freedom of speech. What they don’t realize, is that Castro and his revolution allows NO freedom of speech. You think someone can just walk around and denounced the government. If they do, they’ll find themselves having plenty of time to do more denouncing during their sure 30 years-to-life prison sentence. Socialism: For the people??? To save the poor???
The first thing that the communist regime in Cuba did was to confiscate (steal) all the land, AWAY from the farmers and middle class. They now belonged to the state. They “nationalized” the media, which basically means shutting down the 150+ free newspapers Cubans had the option of reading from BEFORE 1959, and replacing them with communist propaganda outfits. Poeple, for the love of God, Socialism and Communism DO NOT WORK!!! Really, get over it already. Before Castro, Cuba enjoyed a booming economy with a dollar at the same level as the U.S. dollar. Now, their economy is in shambles… The Cuban dollar is worth next to nothing…Liberals, explain please?
So what does buy you things in Cuba??? tTe American (toursit) ollar of course. In fact, to all those saying to themselves: “Communism didn’t work in Cuba because of the awfull U.S. embargo, bla, bla, bla…” I have one thing to say: Do your homework!
The U.S. was Cuba’s sixth largest trading partner in 2003 (tourism, etc)…embargo? Don’t be fooled folks.
To those of you thinking that my rants are for nothing, and that I’m probably just another Cuban guy from Miami who came from a background that makes him feel he has the right to say all this…
I say: I hope that nobody else on earth has to endure what my family did during the middle part of this century… I wish that upon no one. I do however stand proud of my heritage and of my family name. I am proud of the fact that one uncle fought in the Bay of Pigs invasion. Another who was a double agent for the CIA during the beginnning of the revolution. Another spent over 10 years in Castro’s dungeons after spending 3 years in hiding. \
Did the punishment fit the crime you ask??? The crime was assisting fellow Cubans get off the island with their families. These were people like you and I, only wanting to live in freedom, rather then under a communist dictatorship. They deemed him a counter-revolutionary, and of course, sent him straight to jail. I guess he’d have a good argument against anyone defending Castro’s status as a “Humanitarian” or “Champion of Human Rights” when he recounts the year of his life he spent without seeing sunlight, or any light for that matter.
Or maybe how, each dawn, he would hear innocent men, some as young as 15, scream things like “vive Christo rey!” (live, Christ the King!) as their communist killers riddled their bodies with bullets. Although they would tell him almost every day, never knew if he was next. The gaurds would come over during meal time, routinely poor the prisoners soup on the dirt floor, telling them : “Dinner is served!” And then I hear Liberals complaining about Guantanamo Bay??? Comparing it to a Nazi Gulag??? Did I miss something?
I guess I feel a more-than-usual connection with my Cuban roots, but I will never apoligize for it. I guess I maybe got some of my Father’s great uncle’s genes…His name is Perucho Figueredo, writer of “La Bayamesa,” Cuba’s national Anthem.
Overall, I just wanted to let my feelings out about how disgusted I am with some of these individuals who either have no idea what their talking about, or consciously support mass incarcerations and genocide. I feel almost the need to educate those confused and misled. At the same time I wish I had the power to banish those who DO know better, (who still support the bullshit), to some remote island off in the Pacific somewhere…
Someone, help these people see the truth, as been written in so many HISTORY books.
History will absolve me? Yeah right…what a joke!
