The Push to 2020 Has Begun!

The man is a perennial bungler, I don’t know why anyone thought 2018 would change the habits of a lifetime.

The man can’t even stand on the good parts of his own record, for God’s sake.

Now to see who sees what as what.

I have to agree, @alphagunner

As I watched him “explaining” his…uh…“affectionate” side…and the issue that came up with working with Segregationist and Dixiecrats on legislation (which to me was reasonable, or you would not get anything done during those times); Biden stumbled when even getting questions from “friendly” questioners.

If he gets the DEM nomination…I think Trump and the Conservative Machine will eat him for lunch and dinner…

For some reason it’s not letting me link but realclearpolitics had an article today about Trump dumping Mike Pence for Nikki Haley or Ivanka. I don’t think it would be Ivanka as I think the optics would be too bad but it would be a nice hedge since he’s doing poorly with women. Pence isn’t exciting anyone and probably doesn’t bring anyone into the mix who aren’t already sold on him.

The historical Cicero didn’t say that. A fictional Cicero from a novel did.

Pence is a really good invisible man.

Indeed…and to many voters (myself included); Pence has come off as the ultimate hypocritical Toadie to Trump; excusing almost everything Trump does while clearly knowing his place. Short of Trump dying in office; I think that he will never be President. (He certainly will never get my vote).

Nikki Haley. As it stands; my choice when the Trump nightmare;after his second Term; is over. She has way too much political capital stored…and continues to store even more…for me to think that she would join this shit-storm of a Presidency. If she did; that would be a huge surprise to me.

Whoops. My bad lol.

I think you overstate Biden’s weakness and Trump’s “machine” - Biden wasn’t prepared to get attacked over his record from 30 years ago. And on the substance of what he was attacked on - the vast “middle” doesn’t care.

I don’t think Biden is the second coming of Washington or anything, but reports of his electoral demise are premature. And in any event, most of it coming from Trumpkins, who desperately want to report that Biden (or any Dem) is experiencing a failure to launch.

As for Trump, I’m not getting why you are so convinced Trump has some well-oiled machine ready to pounce on pretenders to his throne. In 2016, Trump and his team didn’t even think he was going to win on election night.

He bumbles from one event to another and is a strategic lout. Think about it - the Dems are eating themselves in an internecine battle and what does he do? Instead of letting them keep beating each other up, he interrupts his enemies making mistakes and tweets his bigoted nonsense about The Squad needing to go to their home countries - causing a controversy for himself and giving his self-immolating enemies a chance to reunite against him (and even get bipartisan support against him).

I have no idea if Trump will win or not in 2020, but if he does, it won’t be because he’s some ruthless strategic Machiavelli - it’ll be despite himself.

That’s a good word.

Between you and ED you guys have kept my Google very busy.

I pretty much fully agree with all of this, and would only add that Trump and supporters should be very careful about the assumption of victory.

That’s what turned Hillarys coronation into a Game Of Thrones like bloodbath.

For real RIP, or just longer posting?

I’ve been saying this for a long time on here. If Trump could just be halfway decent for a while he’d cruise. If Republicans had a sane person with this economy they would cruise.

Democrats have essentially done nothing politically to hurt him. But most people don’t like him because of his behavior. Trump should win. He might not and only because most people hate when he’s himself. And he’s himself a lot.

Just no longer posting. Sorry about that. Also removed it.

Maybe we could get Buzz Aldrin to kick his ass…lol

Just take his phones away. Especially at 3am. Them when he goes to find them have this guy:

Yeah I thought he just decided to do better things with his time than debate weebs on TNation (good for him). Was hoping he didn’t die jeez.

These predictions that Trump’s re-election bid will be successful… yeah, these are not gonna age well.

Consider the following:

  • how 90% approval of only 26% of the electorate (per Gallup) is just that; and relatedly, how the traditionally apathetic majority won’t be their traditionally apathetic selves in '20

  • for example, how young voters are increasingly pissed off (ie. climate change is to young voters as healthcare is to boomers) and will show out because of it

  • how 2020 will be an even stronger referendum on Trump than 2016 was on HRC, to phrase the above another way

  • how Trump’s behavior even undermines his own positives; for example, most would agree that confronting China is both worthwhile and necessary… yet Trump’s incessantly adversarial relationship with both the media and House (read: and the constant negative press that this ensures) only gives China more incentive to just wait him out. Sure, the media bias against him can be ridiculous at times, but he also bears plenty of the blame for this status quo

  • the nonzero chance that the House is simply waiting until next summer (read: the final few months prior to november) to roll out the formal Impeachment process… because there’s literally no other way for them to play it; and in the meantime, Trump is only adding to his list of unfit-to-be-POTUS actions

Yeah, that should cover the main ones. For now, anyway.

Good question, @thunderbolt23…and one that points to why I have such a poor history of predicting elections!

I think I get swayed too easily by what I call a “Public Enthusiasm Gap” that I first recognized in me when I watched the McCain/Palin Republican Convention.

I was CONVINCED that McCain and Palin were going to win after I witnessed that Convention mainly because of the almost rabid enthusiasm I saw (while I completely ignored the numbers and just how ready the Country was for change).

I probably am doing the same with Trump (those rally’s make the man look almost Rock-Starish…)…BUT I mix it with this uneasy feeling about the “silent” Trump voter…the one who would not be caught dead wearing a red MAGA hat or “FU*CK YEAH-ing!” Trump’s latest tweet…yet already know they are going to Vote for him (short of him seen killing puppies on YouTube or something…then again, they may still Vote for him…).

It’s that “silent” Trump voter (IMO) that is invalidating most Polls.

Mix it all in with the enormous amounts of dollars going into the Conservative War Chest, and there you go, @thunderbolt23 ! (…and yes…I may end up getting this as wrong as I did McCain/Palin…!)

The Democrats need that- a blackish candidate without anything(anything that makes him seem like one of the scary black guys that lives on the bad side of town) that will hurt him/her with the soy Democrats or idiots(AKA “swing voters”). That’s ALL they need. Democrats should be embarrassed that they ever lose a presidential election. They can win so easily.
