Thank you! I know it will be awhile before investment income = earned income.
I would actually consider voting Republican if it was closer to when McCain was running (I did in fact vote for McCain). I care about fiscal responsibility, but unfortunately both parties don’t seem to care about that anymore. If I could have a party that is fiscally responsible, but socially liberal I would likely be on board. Currently I align more with the left.
Lots of possible solutions. The cynic in me thinks they will never come to fruition because the tax code being written with the super wealthy in mind won’t change. If they didn’t pay for the politicians (who also benefit from it) it might. So the message will continue to be that the poor and middle class need to pay more. Maybe it won’t be said but that’s how it plays out.
Yeah another poster in a different thread said to give it time on eliminating the debt and on health care. We don’t need a crystal ball to know that shit ain’t happening.
Though I recognize you were kidding. The idea that anyone was stupid enough to believe Mexico was paying for the wall is insane to me.
I haven’t talked to any colored people recently, so I could be wrong. I know racism exists, and it is a problem, but real white supremacists? I dunno.
I think that the only people really worried about real white supremacists are overly sensitive Bernie bros that don’t want to suffer guilt by association.
I know that they’re out there, but are blacks or Latinos really going through their days worried that some crazy cracker way out in the woods is gonna shoot them?
Like, where is that on the list of “things that really worry me today”?
Belongs in the same spot as pedophiles are going to be fake trannies that rape kids in public restrooms. As if one can’t already go in a public restroom. We’ve probably been pissing by transsexuals for years now.
Real white supremacists are out there for sure hell we’ve had a few post on this forum. But it’s by no means a big troubling issue.
This is 100% me. I can’t support Trump because honestly I think his character is more detrimental than anyone else. A Bernie presidency isn’t going to make anything he proposes come to fruition. In a gridlocked system give me someone who acts like they have an ounce of adult in them (on either side) over Trump.
That said if Bernie wins I won’t be voting for him. I voted third party last time and probably will again.
I liked that McCain seemed to do what he thought was right. That is independent of me agreeing with him. It is important to me to have a candidate that would do something that hurts them politically if they thought it was the right thing to do.
Yeah, they are. I even know a few Jewish people that were badly affected (not physically) by the Tree of Life shooting here. Very real tragedy.
But I imagine in the day to day, most minorities are thinking “Is the car going to start, are the kids healthy” , etc. Typical every day people problems.
Do you put health care into the typical every day people problems bucket? I am unsure what would be fiscally better when considering medicare for all vs current system? I have seen 4 different reports two were more than current cost, two were less than current cost.
I am skeptical of anything actually changing much in the near future. I do think something needs to change. My health care through my employer would be over $700 a month if I paid full cost, and I have a bare bones plan and I am a 32 year old male. Seems outrageous as I have had about a grand total of $10K in total health care in my lifetime (someone is making a lot of money off of this deal).
Do you think that white politicisns and activists might be listening to black community members and/or leaders when they “speak for you all”?
To me, it sure seems like they are simply parroting what black community leaders are saying across the country. If the govt is overwhelmingly white, how should these white poliyicians go about representing minority communities do they are adequately represented?
No. They’re listening to the hate filled fringe morons.
I know the silent folks in the black community that aren’t on that bullshit. Also, the black community leaders that dare have a different opinion than the hate whitey tyoes, enabled by self loathing whites, are rarely heard. I see it constantly.
How much would 100% healthcare for 100% of the population cost? And with no stipulations - no deductibles, no out of pocket, no limit on preventive or curative (every test possible for any malady or liver transplant for 40 year alcoholic).
After figuring this and realizing it is more than our GNP, who gets to make the cutoff decisions?
Now go through this same exercise in education, feeding, clothing, housing, energy usage, and transportation. Since they also are relatively basic human ‘rights’.
Lastly, figure in unlimited population increase from immigration, since we are now going to provide it gratis.
They are politicians, of course they are telling prospective voters what they want to hear haha.
How should a white politician go about better representing the black community. Apparently “going to the source” and listening to community leaders of color, or analyzing how black districts typically vote is a bad route.
Or, do you think that black folks do not face issues any different from the issues white folks face and should thusly not be singled out as a specific voter demographic with unique issues?
