Yup. Like packing the SCOTUS. Defunding the police. and the Green New Deal.
Does anybody really pay attention to what it takes to make energy, BTW? It’s not as simple as windmills and solar panels.
Wind is complicated no lie.
“I never understood wind. You know, I know windmills very much. But they’re manufactured tremendous — if you’re into this — tremendous fumes. Gases are spewing into the atmosphere. You know we have a world, right? So the world is tiny compared to the universe. So tremendous, tremendous amount of fumes and everything. You talk about the carbon footprint — fumes are spewing into the air. Right? Spewing. Whether it’s in China, Germany, it’s going into the air. It’s our air, their air, everything — right?”
In Florida, the GoP is denying former convicts the right to vote until they pay back fines that they owe. Giving back voting rights was passed by the voters of Florida, and there was nothing about paying back fines.
I think this is bordering on delusional.
Yes, but I am not concerned with how they are sent, but how they are counted and verified. This is exactly the same for both mail-in and absentee.
I also think you need to have a witness sign the ballot. If there is any question on the ballot, we can trace it back to the voter to confirm. This could take a while, but that is separate from security.
Fines are part of the punishment. Time is one part, fines are another part of repaying their debt to society. I don’t see where this is a problem. They did a felony crime and they get sentences that include prison time and fines. Sometimes just fines, until those fines are paid they are not free citizens. I don’t see this being a problem. That’s the system. And Lebron is coming to the rescue, willing to pay their fines for a vote for Biden.
Thinking and providing evidence are two different things. Felons with unpaid fines doesn’t qualify as voter suppression. It qualifies as a person who has not yet done what it takes to regain their full inclusion as an American citizen.
That isn’t what the ballot initiative indicated (should released convicts be able to vote?). The GoP added that requirement after to suppress the vote. They have also made the process to figure out what the fines and are and paying them difficult.
Ha
High information/education voters come out in droves for people with pasts that rival Trump for corruption and shady practices. Why not vote 3rd party en masse instead of enabling politicians of dubious morals to hold power for decades?
Example?
Uhhh no media in MN?
Clintons, Biden, Blago, Marion Barry, Obama, Wasserman -Schulz, Hastings, Warren
How many you really need?
I am not convinced their past corruption is equal to Trump.
A longer list doesn’t help you, you need quality (of corruption) over quantity (of people) here.
Ug, now I am going to have to look up what was on the ballot…
Here is the ballot initiative:
No. 4 Constitutional Amendment Article VI, Section 4. Voting Restoration Amendment This amendment restores the voting rights of Floridians with felony convictions after they complete all terms of their sentence including parole or probation. The amendment would not apply to those convicted of murder or sexual offenses, who would continue to be permanently barred from voting unless the Governor and Cabinet vote to restore their voting rights on a case by case basis.
The amendment as it was on the ballot did say that felons had to complete all terms of their conviction.
You can say the wording did not include the payment of fines, but they didn’t exclude it. They specified completing parole and imprisonment but did not exclude any other terms of the penalty.
This is not voter suppression. If anything it’s enfranchisement because in most states felons cannot vote, ever.
This is simple, if a fine is part of the sentence and they haven’t paid their fines, they have not completed their sentence.
Again, I’ll be happy to look at a real case of voter suppression, but this ain’t it.
Really? What has Trump done that is worse than Obamagate? Perhaps the single most egregious case of spying on a presidential campaign, cover up, and severe abuse of power in history. It really does make Watergate look more like tricklegate.
When all the dust settles, provided Biden doesn’t win and shut down the investigation and cover it up, this will end up being the biggest scandal in American history and we’re just getting started in uncovering the mess.
So DeSantis had to sign a bill into law after the ballot initiative passed (bill singed into law in 2019) to make the fines part of the sentence. They were not previously a part of the terms of the sentence (to be completed to get rights back).
Burdon of proof is on Treco on this one.
I gave you the text of the ballot. What part of “after they complete all terms of their sentence” is not clear? I didn’t write that. I didn’t put it in the bill, that’s the way it was written on the ballot.
They (Florida’s GoP) changed what the ballot initiative meant after it passed. They went out of their way to not do the will of the people and also suppress the vote. That is what happened.
You haven’t set any specific levels of corruption with your reply that Trump has performed. You are seemingly stating he alone is more corrupt than any list of Dems.
If you feel that way, l guess there’s no conversation here.
The Florida GOP is the one’s who signed it into law. Find something else.
