The Push to 2020 Has Begun!

The reality of the office is that presidents do not get to enact what they campaign on. Trump got shut down on health care by John McCain (a republican).

If Bernie wins he will not be able to enact much of his platform, but he will be far more professional and less embarrassing on the world stage IMO.

That’s fair, but I’ll take the shit show that isn’t offensive to all but the scum of society on a daily basis.

Bernie would get moderated aggressively by Congress, especially when both houses turn red in the next election in response to him. So I don’t think he’d have any chance at implementing his policies in the extreme form they now take.

But I’d sure appreciate having my POTUS be someone I wasn’t embarrassed of and by on the daily.

Looks like we are thinking the same things!

This is your respective hopes and wishes about Bernie. I already know that about Trump.

Not really though. You only know what has happened with first term trump looking to get elected again. NOBODY knows what scortched earth, second term trump will do. God/s help us lol.

Way to shit on millions.

Damn. 19 and already a college graduate. Nice.

Pretty sure he means going to college with the intent to get a law degree.

Hyperbole

Total hyperbole. But it’s not hyperbole or exaggeration to say that a second term trump will play even faster and looser than he does now.

You don’t think there are millions of mouth breathing scum in America? I know you do haha

Idk anyone with an ounce of class that approves of how Trump acts(out). I know plenty that approve of his policy making though.

There are. But id caution you as labelling your fellow Americans as such. Doesn’t help your cause. We need to find middle ground more than ever

To put it mildly, I’m not interested in consensus building with the fringes. Not worth the time. You know who I’m talking about too.

The very large majority of trump voters are good people. Just like the very large majority of democratic voters are good people. The assholes on both sides make up the millions I’m talking about.

You have significant issues in my mind if you aren’t disgusted and embarrassed by the way Trump acts. If Trump was a child he’d be expelled from school, placed on numerous meds, etc. They would view that behavior as highly concerning and numerous people would try to fix it.

I can’t fault someone for supporting Trump on policies but I’m going to have a real hard time finding middle ground with anyone who doesn’t think his behavior is an issue. Privately many Presidents have had issues but Trump is the first one I can remember that you would turn off the television during a public speech because you didn’t want your kids thinking behaving like that was worthy of emulation.

He should certainly act more presidential.

I know you didn’t, felt it was nessecary to state though because last time I made that exact aforementioned post I was called a pedo, it was incredibly irritating.

You may not be racist, in Australia generally the cops in Vic, NSW, QLD, NT, WA and SA aren’t racist… but NSW is another story

Statistically the “criminality” of the indigenous demographic is somewhat higher, they’re 2.6 times more likely to be VICTIMS of assault in NSW, they use cannabis at a higher rate comparative to non indigenous counterparts… but nothing that deserves this kind of treatment. (26% of the incarcerated populace is indigenous whilst they only account for 3.3 % of the general populace)

Perhaps where you live. Where I live a MASSIVE effort is made by police to bust people for petty things. In NSW it’s even worse, if you look at my war on drugs thread you’ll see they use sniffer dogs on trains, in public (sidewalks in Sydney), at festivals, at pubs etc… they aren’t looking for dealers, if a dog sniffs you (statistically finding nothing 2/3rds of the time according to the most recent literature… at least within NSW)… they’ll stop you, frisk you… then even if they find nothing they’ll take you to a tent, perform a strip and cavity search on you… Then even if they still find nothing they’ll kick you out of the festival (they’re now being taken to court over this though). Should be notice this practice is acutely illegal and infringes upon peoples rights, but our current ultra conservative government in power does nothing to stop it.

This has been performed on kids as young as ten without parental consent. Where I live I’ve seen many police get heavily involved over small amounts of cannabis/minor amounts of illicit substances for personal use. I’ve been in the car with my father when we’ve been pulled over and ticketed for going about 2.5 miles over the speed limit. 2.5 miles over the speed limit incurring a massive fine whilst I’ve got friends who will go out late at night using certain apps to avoid the police/speed cameras and hoon, pulling doughnuts and driving recklessly… these people are actually dangers to the road… focus on getting them off (not talking to you, just speaking as a generalisation)

Overseas (I’ve travelled extensively)… yes, you’re right, the police tend to focus on the big fish, and I fully respect that. However in AUSTRALIA it’s quite different, whilst this is a slightly more serious crime

This is CLEARLY personal use, but people getting sentenced harshly for shit like this is fairly common, esp in QLD or NSW… This is clearly a very small amount despite being “four separate plants”… this guy is going to prison for a while given our current laws (looking at max 20 years, but more likely between 1-5). This guy isn’t a dealer, if he was he’d be making perhaps 100$ from this

Yeah but he is what he is. If he was going to change and act more like a human being he would have already done it.

There are also certain aspects of his behaviour that scream he’s either

  • had a drug problem
    or
  • currently has a drug problem

to me

Firstly there’s the numerous times during his speeches wherein he’s slurred his words extensively, whether this is intoxicating, exhaustion or neurodegeneration I don’t know

You’ve got reports (that may be biased) like

However I wouldn’t be suprised if he were senile…

There are certain interviews… such as this one (unsure how credible it is)

Then you’ve got videos like this

I can’t imagine the first interview to be 100%, though many allegations regarding the presidents prior hard partying lifestyle, sexual misconduct etc… I’d imagine if he were to still be using coke, meth etc his heart would give out. Most heavily abusing this eventually develop a dilated cardiomyopathy. That being said I’d imagine if he were to have HEAVILY abused drugs, especially methamphetamine (dopaminergic neurotoxicity) some semblance of drug induced neurodegeneration would be present.

His demeanour to me screams “tweaked out” half the time… that’s just me

There are those who say it’s “fake new”… but we’ve probably got 100’s of anecdotal reports if not more regarding this man, we don’t exactly have these reports about other prominent figures like Bill Gates do we

If he does in fact have a drug problem (esp stimulants) it would explain much of his behaviour, irrational thought patterns, why he seems to think he’s invincible (because he is)… but it’d be highly hypocritical given how he praises Rodrigo Duterte’s policies (of which has induced the deaths of 27000+ civilians, many not involved within the drug trade) and how he advocates the death penalty for those who deal… But then again, he isn’t known to be fair or reasonable… perhaps he can use and buy drugs on the sole basis of “I’m Donald Trump, rules don’t apply to me”

Maybe. I was confused because of the part where he said, “He’s going into law school about a week from now.”

Agreed… perhaps. I believe in terms of a debate Bernie will be decent regarding being able to quickly shut down the bullshit that spews from Trumps mouth. Had say, Bloomberg been the democratic nominee he would’ve been chewed up and spat out on the debate floor… Bernie has a better shot regarding shutting Trump down mid rant.

I do believe if Bernie is elected, serious overhaul regarding the way the US criminal justice system works… federally… will be instated.

Whether people will actually vote for him given how radical/abnormal some of his policies are is the real question… but crazier things have happened, Trump was elected… he’s radically right wing… very extreme, and all round a terrible person who probably deserves a long stint in prison.

Going INTO law school means he’s doing exactly that. He’s incredibly intelligent (as is my mother and father, I believe there’s somewhat of a genetic element within the family)… he got straight into law school without having to complete a degree prior… not only that, but within a very prestigious university.

Should add whilst intelligent, he isn’t very worldly and tends to be incredibly naive… he’s also very stubborn, can be a bit of a dick sometimes (far more aggressive than I am). We got into an argument over the federal legalisation of hemp given the benefits such as the production of cloth, fibre on a massive scale… the fact that per acre it takes out more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere comparative to most plants etc… his argument is “that’s cannabis right, that makes you high”… after I explain the pharmacokinetics of hemp he states “but you could just smoke it all day until you’ve had a few kilograms of the stuff, then you’d be high”.

If I try explain the pharmacodynamics of a substance (half life, blood concentration, antagonistic mechanisms behind certain chemicals, the fact that you’re lungs would give out etc) he gets aggressive and continually parrots his flawed ideology. But regarding politics, law etc he is incredibly, incredibly savvy… however he has zero street smarts, is incredibly naive (he thinks im the naive one)… I’m sure with age it’ll change

Neither of us are particularly normal, despite our clashes, when we work together we fill in for the flaws that each of us harbour. I’m autistic (high functioning)… it’s been suggested (though he’s never been formally diagnosed) that he has something similar
