The Push to 2020 Has Begun!

Fixed it. Replaced with a YouTube clip.

Ah… Doesn’t like cops. Edgy. It’s intellectually lazy and quite illogical to dislike an entire group save truly repugnant types; terrorists, pedos, etc…

You’ll grow out of your immature mindset.

Perhaps, perhaps not. I dislike the notion of you making an attack on my character based upon my age and/or ideologies. There’s nothing edgy about me disliking cops… I know plenty of adults who don’t like/trust police. Granted I did initially (without realising) perhaps attack you’re character based on you’re profession and for that I apologise. I have no reason to dislike you as a person

I’ll admit this, laws being enforced are entirely unrelated to the cop, it’s not their fault at all, it’s government/parliment at fault here. Thus the issue I truly have is with the people who bring in these laws that marginalise certain demographics.

When it comes to curbing violent crime, cops are great. I don’t know what kind of relationship America has with police, but down here there is a MASSIVE sense of disconnection/distrust between law enforcement, youth and the generalised community. Given the majority of the time cops (visibly… as in, visible operations) are out busting those for minor misdemeanours (say going 2.5 miles over the speed limit), they’re seen as a pain in the ass.

I’m not saying I don’t respect you or you’re choice to be a cop… cops have to deal with a lot of shit, specifically from people who don’t like them just because they’re cops… the job is difficult, potentially traumatising for those involved within shootings. I respect the hell out of those who are engrained within high risk/high stakes taskforces/operations, we need some semblance of law enforcement… but when it starts getting to “you, spend the day handing out fines to people biking without a helmet”… it irritates me

I should recalibrate my statement. I don’t dislike COPS per se, I dislike those who choose to instant and enforce laws that aren’t sensible/waste time.

I think you need to recalibrate here… this doesn’t make me a pedophile as one had once stated a while back… But according to scientific literature paedophilia isn’t a choice… acting upon sick desires to have sex with children is. So if a pedophile seeks help, receives therapy/chemical castration or whatever, I don’t see the problem so long as one doesn’t act upon their sick desires… acting upon said desires includes watching child pornography btw, no excuse for that given it supports the abuse of children.

It’s like those who have a fetish for cannibalism, beastiality etc. I’m not going to think “he should be put to death because he’s sexually attracted to that”… I’ll think “ew, there’s something wrong with him. But he isn’t inherently a bad person for something out of his control”

I was once told by some guy on here (don’t remember who) that I was a pedo for saying those who don’t act upon said desires and seek help shouldn’t be punished… so I felt it necessary to state it doesn’t. I’m attracted to women, and perhaps men but that’s not important… Statistically the majority of those attracted to children (I’m setting the bar at 18 years of age as a threshold, though if you’re 70 and still going after 18 y/olds…) never act upon such disgusting fantasies.

I agree that pedophiles should not be disparaged and grouped in with child rapists. Should one who has murderous thoughts be equated with an actual murderer?

I would put a pedophile who never acts upon his desires morally above say a heterosexual man who who preys upon drunk women as an example.

This is like picking through poop for the corn. No, not those crappy pieces. The good ones!

Agreed. This by and large is a great area to push your mental development and understanding, develop arguments and stances. You’re civil and intelligent, so welcome.

With the impeachment, the dems fucked up procedurally. Republicans fucked up ethically and morally. Dems will sleep better at night. Republicans will sleep worse, but on a bigger bed.

It’s a shame that for politicisns, winning is far and away more important than ethics and doing “the right thing”. And it’s a shame the general public apparently agrees. It’s a reflection on our current society. SMH.

It’s crazy how much my views have changed over time and a lot of it has been influenced by this forum and another political forum I used to post on. I’d like to think at the very minimum it has opened me up to a great deal of viewpoints.

The general public doesn’t even understand that the real victory is that now they think that Pelosi and Schiff put forth an honest effort.

The general public doesn’t realize that their opinions are the adversaries of politicians and the target of these actions.

I’d definitely agree there. I’ve changed a lot over the years as a direct result of engaging here (among other places). For all the bullshit there’s been a lot of great debate back and forth

I wasn’t accusing you of being a pedo bro. Ha.

Wow!

The thread is rocking as the Election Season heats up.

I wanted to comment on a couple of things. One, I’m just going to hold off on because it’s directed at the Trump apologist. Responding to a lot of it is sapping more and more of whatever mental energy I have left. So…maybe later.

I did want to respond to something @unreal24278 asked, because I have been giving it a lot of thought. (By the way; I am a registered Independent also, if anyone wanted to know).

As of today (it may change)…if Sanders and Trump are the nominees…I may not vote.

I have never not voted in a Presidential election since I was legally able to Vote.

Why?

I see neither Sanders nor 4 more years of Trump as good for our Country.

It’s a lose / lose for us. No matter WHAT we do we’re "racists, profiling, have nothing better to do, lazy, I pay your salary (where’s my vomit bag) Nazis, etc…insert laughable stereotype here…

Bottom line is people are largely uninformed / educated on how police work is actually performed, what’s expected of us (usually dictated by the same uninformed populace) how we look for and find criminals and criminal activity, etc…

A good working policeman doesn’t really look for the pretty crap; subjective as that may be, but instead we’re looking for the big fish; however with the advent of COMPSTAT, the public now wants to see “numbers” and that puts a lot of pressure on us to provide that bullshit.

Hope that clears some stuff up.

One other thing.

I think the DEMS are best to “go-with-the-flow” and not pull any of the stunts they pulled to bolster Hillary the last go round.

If Sanders is the nominee…so be it. While it is my opinion that Trump will completely crush him…the DEMS had best stay away from playing “the best able to beat Trump” game.

I really think the DEMS are at a huge crossroads.

Vote third party. Even if it will likely have zero effect on the election results the more people that do it the better chance of having a viable multi-party system at some point in the future.

Also your downvotes are pretty important so even if you don’t want to vote for president it’s good to get in there for those.

Definitely worth giving some thought to, @H_factor.

2020 will prove to be anything but boring, that’s for sure.

Looking past the obvious #%#@@%%, has Trump really done anything all that history altering? Did he actually build a wall and I missed it?

Bernie though…

I’ll go with the evil in hand rather than the chaos in the bush.

edit: “evil” is too strong, I take that back; “shit show” is what I mean, because that’s all it is -a show; Trump couldn’t care less what actually happens, as long as people are watching his show

The fact you think rape is about getting some ass shows you are either an idiot, a teenager, or an incel…if not all three. You most certainly are uneducated.
