You do not get to morally equate Federal law enforcement with Anarcho-Marxists illegally burning down federal buildings, beating people, etc.

Nope. I’m sorry. One side is burning shit down. At the moment at least. And I’ll be right here shouting down the other side if/when they do. But one side is actively burning and looting and canceling. Those ‘goons’ have every legal right to be out there protecting OUR property. OUR property. They are charged with that duty. Before I go for the time being. Is that all that they are? Just concrete buildings, statues, and monuments. Do we all have the right to burn down and pull down when the party we hate is in power? Is politically motivated arson and vandalism to be illegal or not? When is law and order to be applied?
My position is that the official explanation in that press conference is coherent and rational.
The opposition story is inflammatory nonsense that boils down to “OMG they’re wearing camo!”
These things almost always are. They know better than to go in with a story that doesn’t make sense. I am not saying it was for sure fabricated, but they certainly have been fabricated before, and the stories almost always make sense.

That’s because what kind of personnel is on site is a huge deal because it’s illegal for the President to use federal military personnel to enforce domestic policy.
This was the exact same problem we had weeks ago in DC. This administration ia playing fast and loose with authority in putting armed men in the streets.
And stop pretending a bunch of armed and armored guys in full camo on a city street isn’t cause for alarm and worthy of skepticism - people deserve an announcement prior to these officers showing up amd handling their statutory duty, and then accountability to make sure they stay within the confines of their authority.
Those procedural niceties may get in the way of beating up “Marxist scum”, but too bad - Marxist scum still have due process rights just like everyone else.
They weren’t. And it seems like that’s the confusion he wants to be clear on. Are we talking about National Guard or Federal law enforcement being used?

The federal response in Portland was so normal and perfect that…inspectors general in DOJ and DHS are opening investigations into the actions.

At the end of the day, yeah, they are just concrete buildings and statues. Should it be allowed or condoned? no. And it wasnt condoned, and only a few statues were allowed to be removed by a mob because the call was made it wasnt worth likely violence that would have resulted for a lump of iron that could just be reattached later.
