No, he isn’t. The fact that DHS had to take to the podium to explain that these weren’t military and were officers isn’t a “gotcha, they weren’t military!”, it’s proof lines are being blurred on authority requiring explanation (even so much so the Pentagon was worried about it and asked that they make it clear). The government got called on it and had to CYA.
He had to because the media and irresponsible politicians helped perpetuate dangerous myths.

Well, as the speaker said in the video, those officers normally operate along the border where those uniforms are appropriate. Do you think they went out and bought special uniforms when they got assigned to Portland to be more storm trooper like?

You say that police brutality is overblown and that the real problem is out of control violence in inner cities that kills dozens weekly (no argument there).
But, these riots and this movement you are freaking bout about has only directly killed a handful of people over a few month long period. How can you say this issue is not overblown in comparison?
And I don’t see any criticism about making arrests or carrying out their duty. The concern seems to be limited to confusion over whose personnel is whose.

My dude. If these guys’ normal uniform is camo for a reason, that means they are a militarized force. Telling a militarized force to step away from their normal role and begin policing literally means the police are being militarized. These guys are not trained cops (some might be). They are a militarized force and their “normal uniforms” prove it.
I’m not the one burning down buildings. Doxing “karens.” Acting like Federal law enforcement protecting federal property are goons. I’m not the one tearing down statues. Trying to permantly blind police officers, shooting them in the back of the head, trying to burn them alive. Racially taunting minority police officers. I’m not the one barricading streets. Trying to stop frightened drivers and then beating them when they don’t stop. Over some infinitesimal chance that a police officer might kill any innocent person of any race.

So a couple of explanations exist, and only one true event happened. I don’t think we can take anything in these type of videos as true or untrue as it is common with these to be CYA events. We need to look at what actually happened, and I am no expert on this specific event, so I’ll stay out of it. Just saying a video like this can’t be used to confirm a truth claim.
