Thing is, it’s not just about trump. The blm movement has scared a lot of white folks because they see themselves in these other people who are getting called out for objectively racist BS that typically only happens behind closed doors. We have people here litterally giving their full approval to yelling “white power, white power” in anger. But don’t you dare call that racist… They’re not racist, nonono.
Or maybe they are just so focused on being anti-left they have completely lost perspective on what they are now defending. Idk, but it sure is fucked up.
The dude was sarcastic without a doubt and Trump probably didn’t hear the audio. Now both of these are quite possible, but with Trump it’s always something that needs to be defended by making assumptions. Or well he didn’t mean it that way. Or some other thing. I remember when Pat went nuts about people following or being interested in what Trump was saying about Coronavirus. He was never once mad that Trump was talking out of his ass and needing to be corrected by his own doctors. No it was “how stupid would you have to be to not ask your doctor before taking something! Not Trumps fault people took him seriously!”
To me it seems that these people try to cover their tracks with something thin like “well he says dumb things or probably not the best thing to say” before launching into defense of it (you’re taking it wrong, not what he meant, etc). Then when they have attacked people for their response they can say something along the lines of “well I said it was dumb nothing is good enough!”
But it’s actually the same pattern over and over again and it’s easily noticed. I suppose we will get a chance to do it all over and over again soon.
You know damn good and well that he said “and I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally”. Why be so disingenuous?
Well much like with this after people explain to him that what he did doesn’t look good he sometimes follows their advice. If you go back and look his remarks were hit by Democrats and Republicans both and then two days later he made his statement.
With this they had to catch him on the golf course I believe so they could tell him that obviously sarcastic comment on a video he definitely watched with the sound off no doubt about it needed deleted.
Usually Trump won’t listen to anyone though so credit for him I guess when the people who try to keep him in check can actually convince him of something.
But should we also expect the president to denounce his own tweeting of sarcastic white power remarks?
Given Trump’s record - which you constantly feign amnesia about or ignorance of - yes, he should. You claim Trump has nothing to apologize for because hey, the guy wasn’t being serious when he said white power. But Trump doesn’t get a pass, given his record. And his failure to denounce it adds to it.
He said “and I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally" the same day, in the same press conference.
Anything short of assuming the worst about Trump, up to and including quoting his words, is going to embolden white supremacists even more than they’ve already been. Emboldened as such, they will step out of the shadows and act.
We’ve been assured of this for years now. Never mind the rampaging leftist mobs burning and looting our cities right now, the unnamed legions of white supremacists, now emboldened by the president’s rhetoric, remain the real threat. They will step out of the shadows and act very soon, especially after a tweet like this.
Sorry, I’ve not yet had the time to unpack the most recent scandal. I’m sure Trump’s at the center of it all, working very closely with the Taliban to see their evil plans to fruition. That’s the only reasonable explanation.
Oh no, that would imply he isn’t a giant pussy that fawns at every strongman he crosses paths with.
He found out the Russians were paying the Taliban to kill US servicemen and did nothing. When I mean “nothing”, I mean shocked everyone by inviting Putin back to G7.
Oh jeez another person saying everything is Trump’s fault it’s unreal the type of coverage he gets and how lucky Obama was to not deal with this kind of thing.
Little to unpack on this one: the intelligence community leaked something, WH Admin lied, new detail leaks, WH Admin lied, new detail leaks, WH lies, new detail* leaks <------ we are here
*intelligence intercepts of $$ transfer between GRU and Taliban-controlled accounts
Truth be told, I’m patiently awaiting the next set of (easily disproved) lies that will undoubtedly emerge (ie. I’ve finally reached the zen place of ‘amused detachment’ re: this Admin and can finally just enjoy these last few months of our Reality TV POTUS’ final act)
You seem to seem to have the same depth and bandwidth for news as @twojarslave, which is to say none. Well, at least none that might pop your self-constructed bubble.
In short, we’re waiting to see what shakes out - but it appears Russia has been paying for bounties on American soldiers and Trump either ignored that (very serious) problem because he failed to read the PDB (which included the intelligence on the issue) or knew of it and did nothing about while contemporaneously making nice with Putin and working on things favorable to Russia (I.e., entry in G7, removal of troops from Germany, another blow to NATO).
So it’s either a scandal of rank incompetence or one of compromised servility before an adversary. Either way, it’s a dereliction of duty.
I know, reading is hard, but one day y’all will see the benefit of it.
