The Push to 2020 Has Begun!

But the left has made eating their own an art form. When you have whites telling blacks they are racist or don’t know what it’s like to be black, it makes me wonder if I even want to vote for a Democrat. At least with the Republicans you know what to expect.

In less that a week the left has:

  • Instituted a complete media silence about the only topic that has been chipping away at Trump’s base - the handling of the pandemic
  • Publicly assumed responsibility for all future spikes in Covid-19 cases, one upping the “liberate” crowd
  • Eroded even more the trust in easily verifiable facts and the scientific method
  • Focused on identity politics, taking extra care to care to provide to the GOP ideal slogans and talking points
  • Concentrated on the issues that really matter, namely calling out JK Rowling as transphobic (?)
  • Instituted a new level of infuriatingly irritating public PC discourse, such as when pasty white Brummie John Oliver talks about “white historians” and “white people” with affected disdain

All in all, should Trump win he should thank the BLM in his speech, assuming dementia doesn’t cripple him completely by fall.

You nailed it loppar Dems self sabotaging something unreal. It’s almost as if they have money on Trump.

Doesn’t Trump already have dementia and other mental issues?

“ Not a specific disease, dementia is a group of conditions characterized by impairment of at least two brain functions, such as memory loss and judgment.”

He can’t remember meeting people and if someone doesn’t question his judgement they are deluded themselves.

John Oliver makes my skin crawl. He’s as funny as cot death, and his scripted pieces are inane. At least Jon Stewart could write a joke, but then he didn’t have fugly looks and an English accent to cover for an utter dearth of talent.

If he wins term two, the funny thing is he might just actually do this.

Outstanding post, loppar, nothing to add but a pile on on Oliver.

Bingo. You’re on a roll…lol.

Might have lost me here unless I missed what you meant. Republicans have the single least predictable person in American history. A man with zero moral compass, zero principles, and zero idea of what the government can and can’t do.

Unless you meant that although Trump could do anything in the world from build a golden statue of Kim Jong Un inside the White House to decide to bomb Vermont at least we know Republicans and Republican voters will be on board.

In contrast, the anti-Trump conservatives (see Lincoln Project) are lighting it up with sustained, substantive criticism. If the Democrats adopt this playbook - which strongly and effectively appeals to disaffected voters - they’ll be on the road to victory.

The Left just can’t get out of their own way.

We know to expect the unexpected and it will be prime time vieweing! Get ya popcorn ready! Hide ya women and children!

Jerry! Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!..

I haven’t liked anyone since Stewart. I liked Craig Kilborn. He had a really dry wit, and it almost felt like the Daily Show went “soft” after John Stewart took over.

I can personally attest to the fact that having an English accent gets you a lot of mileage in American business. It is like instant credibility. One of the least competent people I’ve ever reported to had an English-ish accent (South African, to be precise) but she pulled off whatever she did to become a manager without any knowledge of what the people she managed actually did. She was also a total cunt.

Luckily we applied our American ingenuity to overcome her rank incompetence, surely inherited somehow from the British Isles in the not-too-distant past.

I mean this all in the nicest possible way, of course.

I’m Northern Irish, trust me when I say that no one hears our accent and thinks ‘competent.’
We sound like quacking ducks and have all the manners of a highland Scot.

You yanks are uniquely predisposed to hearing an English accent and assuming there is some brilliance there. Must be a legacy of 1812.

But I obviously took no offence. Safa’s are a special type of business hell.

Edit: our accent is so harsh that even the softie southerners can’t abide it.

My county’s accent takes some getting used to:

But they got what they wanted, tax cuts, and Trump didn’t get what they don’t want, a wall. They also got their SCOTUS choices. Trump is a blip in the big picture. This is the predictability of Republicans. They didn’t want Trump but they made the best of it. Democrats would have bickered amongst themselves in a similar situation. In fact they didn’t all rally around Hillary because of how Sanders was treated.

If the republic is going to hell in a hand basket, you may as well get some laughs on the way down, chaps.

Oddly, we can think evil genius while at the same think effeminate dandy.

Isn’t it always the most vicious homophobes who are in the closet?

I imagine the same is true of yank hatred of the British. If you looked deep into yourselves you’d see that you don’t hate the British, you just are British.

Whenever my grandmother made Italian food you would think she was British.

I laughed my ass of at All in the Family, while at the same time wondering how in the blue hell it was ever on network TV. (I’m nowhere near old enough to have seen it while it was actually on.)

Fortunately most of the woke people don’t go farther back than mid 2000s for their shows.

Oh I got what you were saying then. Republicans at least in recent history are much better at being a unified front. Trump may spit in the face of many Republican ideas but they aren’t going to cause a ruckus no doubt. Democrats just have more “meh fuck that shit if you don’t stand for this I’m not voting for this guy.” Republicans with Trump are more along the lines of rolling their eyes behind the scenes and just saying hey we stand for this now.

We shouldn’t be surprised though. Dems ran like the one person who could lose to Trump. And then with Trump being Trump and Biden shooting up in the polls by having the remarkable strategy of just letting Trump talk Dems have taken all the pressure off Trump again.

In a time where your whole strategy could simply be let the guy who has zero control speak often and don’t do anything they have gone this way. Dems being own worst enemies is nothing new under the sun.

It really is colossally idiotic. They did really the only things you could do to give Trump a bump up.
