The Prince of Facebook

Focus, please people.

I’m not asking about suggestions where to go. I’m young, unattached and - dare I say - qualified. So, the world is my playground.

What I asked about, is what you would do in my shoes? Now you may not have enough elements to gauge the situation, but it should be clear that my fate there (as a vocal critic) could be far from enviable.

For now, I’m on 50/50. Before the “Faceboo verdict” fell, I was predominately in favor of going back to my family and friends, because there were some nice signs of the country moving in the right direction.
Well, the only moral country on earth is the United States so move here.

Besides, I need a gardener.

You’re a nihlist. What’s the point of rethinking your existence…it won’t matter anyway.

Nihilism is impossible. The belief in nothing is itself a belief.
You can’t even believe in nothing. Not a big shocker.

Don’t think too hard. Just believe what you’re told, cannon-cocker.

Even a first-class Russian crew commanding that T-72 at the height of the Soviet Union would have been hard pressed to kill an M1.

The poor bastards weren’t throwing rocks, but they might as well have been.

As an aside, during the last rotation we with the Cav lost an Abrams to an RPG-29. Single shot, hit the loader’s side sponsor box, went through the turret and out the other end. Killed both loader and commander. The RPG launcher -Iranian manufacture- was captured with the Hajji. Bastard was wearing a Chelsea soccer jersey and flip-flops.

Currently Hajj can kill anything in the US arsenal. And it’s getting worse, my battalion lost 23 Bradleys this time around, 06-08, Whereas, the entire US Army lost 55 in the previous 3 years

Goes to show that Armor is not invulnerable, and the poor bastards are not throwing rocks.

Was the Abrams in motion when it got hit?

Must not have been. Probably boxed in, and the bastard got off a lucky shot from behind cover. He couldn’t have been more than 100 meters away. I agree, nobody is invulnerable. Even Goliath got cocky and fell to an unarmored punk in sandals who got off a lucky shot.

Question: Does the Hajj have anything approximating the DRAGON or TOW systems? I’d be more worried about those weapons than RPG-29s or any other non-guided rocket grenade.

True. She was on OP when she got hit. The crew must have gotten pretty complacent, shifts run 4-8 hours, and they obviously weren’t scanning properly. The demonstration, however, that a round that cost no more than a few hundred dollars on the black market could completely defeat a multi-million dollar main battle tank, is staggering.

I have no experience with nor have heard any reports of enemy guided anti-tank weapons in theater. There have been guided missiles -Misrah class? can’t remember name- fired at our boys with some success. We recover pieces of the motor and casing, again, with distinct Iranian markings.

But really, I wish they would start using TOWs. Would give us a better target. As of right now EFPs triggered either with passive infrared detectors or command wire are completely devestating and the triggerman almost untraceable. Almost.

Lixy, if I were you I would forsake the country of my birth and immigrate somewhere else. I would do what countless immigrants have done before me, work hard, send money home and eventually bring all the people I care about out of that place.

I understand about nationalism. I love this land so much it makes me want to weep. So I can understand if the thought of leaving your birthland behind is agonizing.

However, like in an abusive relationship, sometimes you have to know when to call it quits. You can tell yourself all you like that he/she is going to change, but in the end she’ll start drinking again and before you know it, you’ll be tied to the bed getting hot wax poured on your nasty bits, and you might even like it but… Wait, no wait hear me out…

Well anyway, you get my point. Do what you have to do and waste not a moment.

I remember stories filtering back from Gulf War I of near-misses, and afterwards the tankers would find the guide wires lacing the tank like Christmas tinsel. So they musta had 'em, but they didn’t know how to use 'em.

It’s better to use proper grammar/spelling if you are going to call someone ‘shit for brains’.

And as far as it’s better believing something THAN nothing – we already went over this – it is impossible to believe nothing.

Just go back to cleaning your cannon and we’ll call you when something heavy needs to be carried, private.
