The M1 Abrams tank can score first round kills on mile-distant moving targets in practically any weather, day or night, while maneuvering at 40 miles per hour.
No other tank in the world comes close to it, except maybe the German Leopard.
Even a first-class Russian crew commanding that T-72 at the height of the Soviet Union would have been hard pressed to kill an M1. The Republican Guard, nowhere near as capable as the Soviets, were as outgunned as the Polish Cavalry against the Wehrmacht.

I just wondered, with all you guys profound wisdom, how it would be possible to be an adult, with wife and kids, house, job, responcibilities and all, not pay taxes.
And why we are blamed for killing people, something Osama Bin Laden used to justify the World Trade attacks and all attacks on American civilians for that matter, when we have little choice? They take your taxes right out of your pay for instance. But I am sure a mad Islamist or a college kid wouldn’t know as much.
I think it’s kind of like a young kid without a license telling you how to drive. Kind of pisses you off, no?

Kind of off the subject, Genghis, but since Hedo and I were talking about tanks and all, it occurs to me that there hasn’t been an irruption of warriors out of Mongolia for centuries now, largely because of the existence of Soviet tank battalions and nukes.
With the former Soviet Union a fourth-rate military power these days, there wouldn’t be much to stop a modern day Mongol Horde with cell phones and RPGs from riding across the steppes in light armored cavalry vehicles (which they would procure from the same place they got their armor last time, China) into Russia and Kazakhstan, conquering, pillaging and plundering. Now isn’t that a pleasant thought?

It’s a Mark 48 Model 0 light machine gun. Big brother to the Army’s M249 SAW, in 7.62 NATO.
We could probably hold them off at the Khyber Pass. Might take a few more than 300 of us this time, though.
